Damn. . . that thing MOVES! Can we do an auto swap for my car now?

Is the ESP light different on the B6 & B7? Looks different then mine, never knew that.

Also. . . you just used two words very close to each other that got me very excited. . . Launch Assist & supercharged. I wanna see (and feel hehe) some of the LA on the manual supercharged cars, I think that’s gonna be a blast! Especially since you know most all of them are on stg 3/4 clutches, so you might be able to make it a little more aggressive, I’m getting jealous of you flirting with 1.7 60’s in the autos!

Great work though and glad to see some new videos. Those shifts do look killer though, and I can’t wait for some other guys to experience that in their own cars. Launching is one of the most fun things you can do in an AWD car, and it absolutely SHOCKS most people when they’ve never experienced an AWD launch before.

Wow that is great…

How does the LA work mechanically on an autobot. I know you mentioned stalling the TC, does that mean not letting it cut in at that RPM range when you are launching it.

I just received the updated JHM ECU tune and I have to say it’s impressive. The shifts are a lot quicker, and also smoother when cruising. Unfortunately I live in the city and last night there was a lot of traffic and police out for the weekly fireworks show so I wasn’t able to get an updated video up as soon as I wanted.

When I find some time, and some open road I’ll update with what the ECU tune can do. Although this time I’ll bring a fully charged camera. Although suprisingly it’s a lot easier to drive in traffic, yet get’s very angry whenever you feel the need. I only wish I had to drive farther for work ;D

The link works great. Nice video. Over stock how much more agressive would you say the launch is.

I know we can’t expect much we are still at the limits of the converter but I looks like the car is moving out more from a dead stop then stock right?

I would say about a 5. It isn’t crazy but it is definitely a lot better. When it was stock it felt a little sleepy getting off the line. It is really smooth and the power comes in right away so you pretty much just go.

It isn’t the crazy launches like the manual guys, but I think that is mostly due to the launch rpms at the moment. Considering this is just the ECU tune it’s a huge improvement because that extra 7-800 rpm is big and it is really consistent. The biggest overall change is the shifts because it is pretty damn quick.

It’s funny as I live and work in the city and deal with a lot of traffic, but the car is a lot easier to drive than stock for normal driving. Then as soon as you hit the gas it just goes. I really want to see what the TCU tune could do because just the ECU tune was really impressive.

Help a non Tip guy understand here.

  1. the JHM ECU tune now is adjusting tip transmission stuff?
  2. is there also a TCU tune of sorts to go with it? But GameBreaker just has the ECU tune with updates for tip cars?
  3. if someone is JHM tuned with a tip car already, can they update their tune to this new version somehow?
  4. is there a price available for the TCU tune?

B6 3.0, Im sure that there will be one for the S4 soon if not already. It is great to see them test it on the S/C cars first (if it works on that it will be fine on anything else)

JHM TCU tune seems to be the most successful one that has ever come out. GIAC did one for a while, but they didnt keep at it and died off

As for the questions.

  1. The tune pretty much adjusts everything. Shifting in all modes become faster, which makes Tip driving more fun, and makes S even angrier. The biggest advantage is Launch Assist which raises the lockup point for the Torque converter. Stock it engages right around 1700 rpm depending on if your transmission is in good shape and raises it up to 2400 rpm. That being said, it is really easy to drive in heavy traffic yet goes whenever you have the need.

  2. There is a TCU tune, but unlike the A4 it’s a lot harder to do. On our cars the TCU resides inside the transmission so the only way to get it updated is to have your car physically present, and even then is a bit of work. I don’t have it yet, but keep dreaming about the day they have some free time ;D So for the majority of guys, all we have is the ECU tune for now.

  3. Anyone who ordered their tune after August should have it, but as always they can always send it in to be updated.

  4. N/A. This isn’t a send in and flash deal like the A4s so I would say it’s TBD.
