The RS4 Allure

Gotcha. The way it was worded threw me off.

There’s certainly legitimate criticism of Revo’s tune, but it has proven to be the best for performance. Version 2 is even faster.

Edit: doesn’t look like we have any Revo v2 times (w/ no other mods) in our database, so I guess that last statement isn’t necessarily accurate.

This x2,

I test drove B8 S4’s before I got the RS, they were nice and the new little gadgets are awesome, but the engagement and pure joy the RS brings can’t be matched.

Not only that, I love when a true enthusiasts notices the car, some of there reactions and questions are priceless.

Gadgets
What are you referring to when you talk about gadgets? (Not aimed at anyone specific)

Re the Rs4, I got bluetooth, RNS-e 2010+, voice activated stuff, rear parking sensors. Plus the radio is basically double DIN so I change it to some all singing, all dancing touchscreen Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood. Not sure how easy that is in the newer Audi’s.

Regarding the driving experience
I will preface this with the fact that I think the B8 S4 is a great car (only tested a DSG one). Fast, good handling, comfortable. V6 was meh sounding but that may not be a priority for all.

The E92 M3 was also great to drive. That V8 sounds bonkers and the handling is fantastic. The interior did not befit a car of this class. And fuck me it was a handful in any ice and snow. I would not be able to squeeze into nearly as many gaps in traffic/intersections with as much confidence as the RS4.

Track cars
I think something small, light, and simple to maintain would be more fun than an M3 or RS4 if you are looking for a dedicated track car. I reckon even a 325i E30 would be just the ticket. Maybe I’ll do a couple of gentle track days down the line but I wouldn’t want to be wearing through multiple sets RS4 brake pads and tyres every year.

The RS4
Everything what saki said. I even bought the same colour as him lol. (Or maybe I’m just another fake account)

That feeling you get when you open the garage door and see this car…

;D

But right now I get to open the garage and look at this lol

Could be worse. Could be 2 B5 S4s

I recently sold my e90 m3. It was a great car. Fun to drive when pushed hard, but kind of blah when not. The handling was of course spot on and it was a blast to turn dsc off and cut her loose. It had a primary cat delete coupled with a Dinan cat back and sounded incredible. The new idrive was a very nice system but the interior again…kind of eh take it or leave it. The rs4 feels much torquier and is definitely more enjoyable to drive on a day to day basis. You don’t need to wring it out to have fun. I thought the m3s transmission couldn’t be beat for silky smooth shifting, but I had never tried the rs4. I will take this trans any day of the week. Looks…I mean come on. That isn’t even close. The rs4 is just a great looking car from pretty much every angle. All in all, I don’t miss the m3 at all. Saki summed it up regarding the character of these cars. They are pretty damn special.

IMO it will go down (if it hasn’t already) as one of, if not the greatest Audi ever built.

That’s something pretty special and the rarity of an RS4 is almost worth the purchase alone.

Do it, 65vette, do it. ;D

Yea I think its time to start looking again. FOund a nice suzuka grey with 36K miles only to find out it has been in two accidents. And the owner didn’t seem to know lol.

isn’t it like .5 B5 S4s though? How much is an engine worth? .25?

I don’t even want the valve stems from a B5 S4 in my garage.

I feel like y’all need some members only jackets to wear around town.

Embroidered with westwest

Westwest is in the 3.0t club already. He’s the club secretary.

Don’t laugh. I owned a grey one not unlike this:

My wife borrowed the RS4 yesterday. I had just finished a quick exterior detail, and was blocking the driveway, so it was convenient.

She gets back and says, “I really like the sound of your car. It has a nice growl.”

I’m thinking how sexy she is when she talks about cars! I’m right about to explain how I recently disconnected the muffler valves… but this was just the set-up for a KNIFE TO THE HEART:

“It sounds much better than your Subaru.”

that’s a knife to the heart?

More like a splash of cold water/wake up call if you didn’t realise it lol. There is no comparison.

The RS4 is actually the first car she has EVER complimented the exhaust sound.

And it is hilarious how she slipped in the “insult the Subaru” comment. She knows that car is like family member to me. And I’ll need it if I decide to send my RS4 out to Lathrop…

she probably hates the Subaru because of the time.attention you give it/gave it.

Plus it’s hateable…old, rickety, ugly, loud. No wonder she had a kick at it!

The things that are great about the subaru being insane performance, epic AWD, etc are lost on most ladies. They just see a lout.

Definitely NOT the time/attention. After 20 years of marriage, she encourages me to go out to the garage whenever possible.

Definitely IS the “lout.” It was marginally unacceptable when I got it, and is embarrassingly intolerable in its current state. Almost as bad as a B5 S4.

Back on RS4 allure commentary.

I gave an executive VP a ride last week. He commented that the car looks new (amazed when I said it is an '08), had a great sound, and he could feel the power (even though I probably never went past 25% TPS).

There is something about the RS4 that feels… “coiled.” Like a snake, or a compressed spring. Something very muscular under its svelte sheet metal.
