I had a flat earlier this week, and went ahead and ordered some RE-11s that were on close-out at TireRack. I was tempted to increase the width, but ultimately decided to stay stock for now.
Looking forward to getting them installed. While I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the Conti ExtremeContact DW’s that came with the car, I have no basis of comparison on the RS4.
About 40 hours from order to doorstep. Spectacular service. The price was right, too: $195 each, plus a $70 mail in rebate for 255/35 R19.

LOL - Who doesn’t?
Wait… what does that have to do with this thread? [insert smiley faces here]
Installation is tomorrow early AM, including a Hunter GSP9700 road force balance. If these perform as well as the RE-01R’s on my STi, I’ll be a happy camper.
The car immediately feels better with the stiffer sidewall. Turn-in feels like a split-second lag has been removed, and there is more information transmitted from the road surface to the driver (in a good way).
MUCH happier with these tires compared to the 70% worn Continental ExtremeContact DW that were removed from the car.
Tires are still too new to comment on the handling limits… more in a few hundred miles…
It’s been so long but I remember similar thoughts as yours. I’ll note that I found it a very decent rain tire considering its an extreme-performance tire suitable for the track. However in my case I never experienced extreme-performance dry grip, due to the rollover issue in the other thread.
I put RE-11s on an F-car too with decent results, 245/35/19 fronts and 285/35/19 rear. Hadn’t tracked it for the month I had borrowed it, except at the strip, so no feedback, but it was a great street tire and going 2 sizes up in front really helped with understeer.
Aren’t you worried about the tire being so heavy…;-). Lol.
Yes, weight is the enemy, but so are squishy sidewalls!
Given the relatively low cost, and short lifespan… I figured they were worth a go. I’m not certain I’ll ever track the RS4, given that I still have a built STi for that kind of fun.
I should add that my all-time favorite street tire on my STi was the previous generation Bridgestone RE-01R. At the previous close-out of that tire, I wished I had bought several sets. LOL
My S4, RE-11s same size has seen 20,000 km and a couple track days and they are at 60-70%. I’m surprised how long they are lasting. The deep rain grooves help for sure, compared to say Dunlop Z1s which at half worn were undrivable in the rain.
The weight was a joke…I can’t believe people worry about a couple extra pounds in their tires. There’s no prize going 11.98 instead of 12.01…
