Tts supercharger price reduction

Yes I did - to my friend Tom - and we have had it back tuning it again with the new intank pump upgrade as these are maxing out on new tunes - Now we keep breaking clutches, and driveshafts.

Thanks for sharing the info on the tuning and the cams.

If you’re used to tuning a certain way (with the car in your hands/on your dyno), then are forced to completely turn that upside down and tune a car 3500 miles away, I imagine it’s very difficult especially when the customer has a level of impatience brought on by having this shiny new toy that he wants to play with.

So would a customer have to send their ecus to mrc a couple or a few times in order to completely dial in tuning doug? I. E. Is that why sobers4 was told… Send ecus over… Have them flashed…send back to America…install back on car and log… Then send back to uk to dial in adjustments

I guess I can understand why that would be annoying for someone however it is also why most people don’t buy supercharger kits from other continents lol. I imagine you prepared him for this inevitability and I recall him saying you initially didn’t want to tune it this way… You warned him up front. I guess he was eager at first but half way through the process he appears to have lost patience.

The tts tuned by mrc kit was the hands down dominant big performance offer for the past year in the rs4 world. I reckon there would be a couple dozen here if the tuning process were a bit easier.

Any way you can establish an online flash setup like Jhm has recently done? Or like some of the tuning companies with a dealer network have? That would open up a whole new network of business in theory.

Anyway hope you get toms car sorted. What clutch solutions have not worked for you so far?

we have to flash on bench to update sw to euro version (or i have to be there with our software to update it) as that is the sw we do all the tunes on, and then we can send a customer flashing tool.

We dont really sell parts here - our businees is get car in and get it tuned - i would prefer to see every car and make sure i am happy with it.

We get more from our kits on certain cars (looking like cams being the difference) 650ps and 643nm now with the intank pump upgrade and realtime tunes, on uk99ron fuel.

On my car we have broken the sachs motorsport pressure plates twice, clutchmaster single plate doesnt work, spec 3+ wasted after a day on a 1/4 mile, helix clutch. The cars that are driven hard are going to twin plates now, and funnily a stock clutch is ok if not 1/4 miled or launched.

stock clutch is great. My car is stock, but it has been to the dragstrip about 8-10 times and has made 60-80 passes. Of course add another 200 hp and that would be another story likely.

JHM is working on an upgraded clutch for their supercharger kit. Provided install is done to the letter, along with their flywheel, it should do well. I believe their kit will make comparable power to the TTS.

Thanks again for the update Doug. Great to hear you’re still finding ways to improve the TTS hardware.

that’s interesting information, never heard that before. how different are the cam profiles between the revisions?

and I feel your pain on the remote tuning, on a previous car i had some difficulty.

MRC - another shop that breaks its own cars in the name of progress… In case anyone was wondering, that’s a great thing.

I think reality is that we would never really see that here because none of our cars were from the early 2006 production era of that first generation of cams.

So perhaps we in North America only have the second profile.

The replacement engines could be an issue. Nobody tell BenSti.

Wait…you mean they own the car they’re working/doing development on? That’s a novel concept!

Lulz.

But seriously, who are you going to trust your car with - the guy who broke his own car so you don’t have to, or the other guy?

So who is in this elite group? MRC, APR, JHM. HPA (although I think they tends to sell their cars on), AWE/GIAC (don’t know about Audis but they have a shop GTI IIRC), 034. Actually that list is longer than I expected.

doug can you make a full post. we would like to hear about your kit and know more about what goes into it. with the price drop of the TTS kitthis has new potential to be the best kit for the price.

I’m sure there are a lot more shops than that. How the hell can a shop make products for cars they don’t own?

Good point well made.

The beast (Danny’s old car) is for sale on ebay:

I’m the high bidder woo hoo!

That car was sold for absolute buttons, still full spec to

Boom!

I’m a bit late to the game here…but if the cam profile is so great from the original four months of production, why not pull a cam card and have a custom cam profile done to replace the not so aspirational version(s)? Too much of a cost/headache to replace cams on these motors without doing a full build up?

To pull the camshafts for most people it would require an engine pull. Think B6/7 S4 with the timing chains at the back but with two more camshaft adjusters.

Ok. I just figured that these shops would be able to do it a bit easier than Joe Blow and could offer it as an option with their supercharger packages if it is a significant difference to performance.

I wonder why Audi went away from it so quickly into the production line, and how different the cam profiles are? Seems a bit odd to me that they would change like that unless there were some kind of issues…

Great to see these guys continuing to make progress. Competition is always a good thing!
