Not that you would be if you get stuck post here or pm me. It might not be bad to take some pics along the way.
Thanks Justin I appreciate the help. I’ll grab some pictures along the way of my process and make a little DIY for it
Instead of starting a new thread figured Id ask here. Is it possible to view and log misfires on both banks in vagcom? If I go into engine other it will only let me view one block (2-3 cylinders) at a time and not all 8. What am I missing
If we are talking on a RS4 you can only talk to or communicate with one ecu at a time. Since each bank gets its own ecu you can only see and communicate with one bank at a time. That’s my understanding and experience with it
should be able to do 4 cylinders at a time
2 ECUs , one for each bank, due to engine speeds I believe
Hmm, yes on the RS4. You can go to engine other and block 15-17 will show them, 16 is cylinder 4,5,6 which is why I was hoping there was a way to get all 8. Whats the block in each ecu, its not 15-17 iirc?
It would probably be a good idea to make a good list for the tech section. What i remember is that the blocks are not the same in each ecu. Don’t quote me on that. I can’t remember the last time I logged that or looked at that on a RS4.
dont use the groups. Log individuals.
IIRC ecu 2 (Module 11 - ENGINE II) should have misfire count blocks for all the cylinders since it’s the one responsible for tracking them.
Groups 15,16,17 should have them.
But use advanced measuring blocks. Each group has 3 cylinders + something else (Recognition or something off the top of my head).
If you do advanced blocks you can pick just the misfire counts per cylinder only so that you have room to log 4 other things (there’s a 12 block limit).
