What do you guys think about tuning company employees joining the site???

So, as this site grows I am sure tuning company employees will want to join and jump into the fray in some posts. Personally I think that’s pretty cool, and it will be funny to watch them post without protection from site administration (as none of them will be paid advertisers, thus the site is not beholden to appeasing them)

Anyway, I think if I were to say something about it, I wouldn’t want anyone to have an @ username. for example of Joe@GSG wanted to join, we’d rather he just joined as Joe etc. m but maybe forum admin could put something (their title) saying they are affiliated with XXXtuning.

Dan from JHM joined and only made one post, as bertworks I believe (or something).

I bring this up because Arin from APR just joined as Arin@APR (and I can ASSURE you he is not a paying advertiser lol).

What do you guys think?

I think it sounds fricking awesome.

damn, Arin must be on almost as many car forums as you Saki :stuck_out_tongue:

just kidding, I agree no @tuningcompanyname would be preferable

As long as we know that they are affiliated with “x” comapny I really don’t care how or what they structure their name is.

This will be interesting.

would be nice if you guys would answer the poll. Just saying.

On tapatalk, so I don’t see no stinkin poll… but I also say no @apr/whatever moniker. I think something in the sig works or a master thread aligning everyone’s allegiances so to speak.

The reason is all the other sites use the pete@noname format for the paying advertisers and newbies may think this site is the same I.e. arin@apr is just another sponsor.

Plus I think since this is a non sponsored site, I would hope it might even be liberating for guys like Arin and Keith who always seem to be up for a bit of banter and not to worry about offending site administrators here, I.e. not to worry if their sponsorship will be renewed or whatever. I’d like to think we have thicker skin than most and we have the war room for when things inevitably heat up.

The truth is all we seek and as long as these guys don’t come here to sell products alone and will admit when they are wrong or not stepping up or sneakily trying to avoid questions, they are welcome.

Magic beans, shills and dyno plots are not.

Yep, sign up with regular old names, but show that they’re affiated with a certain company.

I say we should have an @APR or whatever on their username. Whether we denote that they are affiliated with a tuning company, or we have an @ in their username, it doesn’t make a difference. I think putting the @ makes it a lot easier to identify them.

The most important thing is no threads started by them trying to push an existing product just for the sake of making sales. For example, if APR makes a thread in the B6 S4 forum trying to push their shitty exhaust, kick them the fuck off because that is the same shit that makes AZ annoying. They CAN however make a thread about a NEW product and WHY it is going to benefit the end user. No advertising bullshit basically. if you have something good that will benefit the community, by all means show us what you got, but don’t push crap.

We should not under any circumstances allow places like ECS to make a username because all they are is a retailer.

At the end of the day…think about this…what is Arin trying to make an account? To sell more tunes. That makes them an advertiser

I completely agree with this, I actually opened up my laptop instead of my phone to type something to that extent.

As we already have Keaton@JHM here and CV, this is so they can help us develop the 3.0 and that wasn’t a problem. As long as Arin does’t push old products on us and shares with us only new products then cool.

I personally don’t mind if they have xxx@company … that’s cool … newbies will soon get the picture that this is not a sponsored site.

I have no problem that they ,ight wanty to sell something new … that’s cool, but we have a classifieds section for that

Discussion of new parts and new offerings that’s cool …

…or…

just had a thought … what about a Shop forum - this is non paid, just a service. Each sub-forum is a tuning company and each thread is product line/offering and only the staff of the shops can post, however, discussion will of course exist in the main forums ?

I mean if a product is shite and has nothing to back it up, it’s going to get mauled in the forums, but this way the shop threads can stay uncluttered and things can be found easily …

discuss??

kind of hijack!!

also I want to know easily that I’m talking to a company representative. And via tapatalk the username is your only option.

and the more companies we have the more unbiased this site becomes and the more honest discussion we have.

Tho, if shit gets stirred for shit stirring sake…

Good point. Luckily I hadn’t voted yet, have done so as such now.

indifferent. I’m fine with xx@xxx and I’m sure some will prefer to sign up as that for familiarity. But as long as there’s a clear association in the nickname or sig, it’s good enough for me.

hmm good point, and I like the shop subforum idea as well

The way JHM posts now is professional in helping the community. Like its being said, Identify if you’re affiliated with a company and dont try pushing sales, tunes, etc… or the other things you guys mentioned

I think it would be great to have input from other tuners. But, I feel like many won’t want to post here because they know we won’t put up with bs claims and nonsense. A lot of these other guys have their heads shoved so far up their asses its amazing they can breathe up there. Seems like their new stomping ground is the B8 S4 section on az.
