Wheel noob question

Ok guys so I’m about to pull the trigger on my wheels but I have a couple questions first. The wheels are Enkei RPF1 18x8 with a 35mm offset.

So here is the dilemma…my winter wheels will be my stockers, which I run with 12mm rear and 8mm front spacers. I want to order a set of 034 studs from JHM but I can’t figure out which length I should get out of 38, 43, 56mm. I would like to use the studs for both the Enkeis with no spacers, and the winters with spacers. So what length should I get?

Another question, what kind of seat is on either wheel? Ball or cone? And I already know I will need different nuts for the different wheels if they are different.

Any other stud kit I should look at before deciding on the 034 kit?

I think the stockers are ball

I dont mind the stud hanging out of the wheel so I’d get the longest ones but a good bet would be to pull out a current lug bolt and measure the entire length… the stud should be pretty similar I’d think

I have been super happy with the 034 stud kit. If your running that thick of spacer you want the long 3" stud. I got both nuts, cone for my Forgestars, ball for the stockers.

18x8 ET35 vs. 18x8 ET45 = 8 mm difference…or about 1/3 of an inch. Basically if you choose the right size studs for your enkeis, you should be fine with the stockers (might have a TINY bit of stud poke). I’d ask JHM directly what they think is best for you. I don’t know personally how much they seat. Enough guys here have them so they should be able to give you an idea.

p.s. 18x8 ET35 is still a bit bitchy-tucked. You may still need some spacers on there won’t you? My B7 S4 had 18x8.5 ET38 with 245 tires and it looked good but could still have used a bit more width. The Enkeiis are 3mm shy of that…and your stockers will be 13mm shy of that.

Yeah good point, never did the math to see where the new wheels will sit. I keep forgetting they are 18x8 whereas the wheels I had on the A4 were 8.5 so they were pretty flush with an ET35 offset. I guess I will just go with the long ones with two sets of nuts.

remember guys, the lower the et, the further it sticks out. 35 will be much more flush than 45

Well basically, compared to my current setup, the front will stick out an extra 2mm, and the rear will be in by 2mm. I will probably use my 8mm spacer for the rear and get maybe a 4mm spacer for the front.

That brings me to
ET27 rear
ET31 front

That sound about right for decent flushness on an 18x8 wheel? Not going for any poke.

That’s the equivalent of an 8.5 ET33/ET36 which always looks good. Guys will say ET32 8.5 is perfect.

If you use your Enkeis with your existing 8mm/12mm spacers, you will be

REAR - 8.0 ET 23
FRONT - 8.0 ET 27

It’ll be the equivalent of

REAR - 8.5 ET 29
FRONT - 8.5 ET 33

I think that would look just fine. Try it out before you spend any money on spacers.

19x8 ET35 wheels, 245 tires, no spacers. Any further out and I would start rubbing (which means I’d have to raise the car. The first pic was prior to installing the coilovers so that’s stock height). I also had to buy wheel locks which were ball seat (it just happens that the stock wheels and the O.Z. are both ball, not cone) and the length of the wheel lock bolt was 34.5mm for the ET35 offset. When I went back to my winter set, I just added 8mm spacers for my stock ET43 wheels to clear my calipers.

the rubbing is because of your 245 tires^^^

if someone is on 235, they have a lot more room to play. 8.0 ET35 is relatively tucked for wheel fitment on these cars…but add 10mm of tire width (and a tire that in general is wider than the size typically would indicate) and you’re in a whole new league vs. 235 tire that are a legit 235.
