11.757@119.60 - 81Bear

Congrats 81Bear! Maybe not the fastest E.T., but at least you got highest trap ever.

No tailwind, based on the flags. Definitely a traction-limited day…1.71 was the best 60’.

I’ve never seen a DSG shift to 5th so far before the paint…!

Nice! DA was excellent today for u guys. Sux about traction though

just to point out how much power was to be had today by that car…look at the big end of the timeslip. 4.18 sec with a (!!!) 27.6 mph gain.

We got logs, before we started doing runs the ECU said 5 deg C and 99 kPa.

What time did he run?

This is his time! I better modify my first post to make sure nobody thinks they’re mine…

I was driving the s600 in the Saki-challenge. I lost.

Sorry - meant time of day lol

Boom! Great job bear! Made a ton up on the backend with only a 91.97 in the first 1/8th… Man a 1.6x 60 and you are 11.6x… That is awesome… Very happy… Vids? How did everyone else run?

What an epic run and trap speed! Brilliant stuff, bear, especially when you consider how much wheelspin the Audis were putting in. Your car was absolutely flying today. No video because it was too cold for anyone to stand out there.

Car 4605 - there’s a time at the top of the sheet with the obligatory 2nd set of times within 10%

he ran that around 230 or something. Time was far right of the printout, but looks like jspazz missed it.

Their timeslip printer was busted so we had to run over to the window of the tower and look for our times, which were printed on big sheets and taped to the window. it was like the week before the first day of school when you went to see what class you were in and who was in there with you.

It was neat…his car just kept getting faster and faster and faster. I am not sure why he stopped.

Lots of good times run today. They will be discussed in the main thread.

Nice times! Wish u guys were closer man. Probably some good laughs too.

Def great weather.

Can u send us some of ur gas

Pandemonium and chaos around here for fuel. Pretty much nothing but 87 piss water. 93 is scarce.

Go get some Toluene to pump up your octane. Home Depot maybe.

Got me a 5 gallon drum of Shell URT advanced 110 octane to hold me off for week. Will add to 10 gallons of 87 if need be. Hopefully this week things get better.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to this thread, I had a few things to do when I got home…

Anyways… I really owe a lot of the success I had today to Jspazz. Thanks for hooking up the race gas for the drive down, for making me feel like a formula 1 driver (by texting me my times and MPH after every pass so I didn’t have to stop as I had no clue what I was running… big help in hot lapping), and finally thanks for creating this thread and posting my time as I must have deleted it from my phone…lol!

tsivas27 - Yeah traction wasn’t great today… my first pass was horribly scary as I had massive wheel chatter which resulted in my slowest time of 12.4x @116mph (seriously thought I broke something!!!). After that pass I dropped tire pressure down to 24psi in the rear and 26psi in the front and still had wheel spin. :frowning: I decided to listen to PT’s recommendation and kept the tire pressure above 23psi so I just left the pressure. It was okay as I did notice that when the tire’s got some heat into them they were starting to hook better and all things considered I’m very happy with the result.

Primetime - Thanks bro! I really appreciate the support! Yeah the car was moving today and I’m very happy with the trap speed and ET but still can’t get close to that 1.64 60’ of yours… LOL! Sucks your track was closed Saturday! Do you think you’ll be able to make it back before the end of the season? I think this time is going to have to tide me over till the spring.

Bangoman – Thanks for all the support today! It’s always a good time at the track with you guys! We’ll have to set it up again in the spring!

Saki – As always thanks for the good times! To your point about my car getting “faster and faster and faster” it really comes down to the ECU and sensors calibrating with each other. I think after my first 5 passes my best time was 11.93 @ 117mph with 3 or 4 12.0’s. My next 5 - 7 passes all where in the 11.7-11.8’s with my best trapping 119.6mph.
To your questioned about why I stopped, it was because 1) I was starting to get concerned about my transmission with all the wheel hop I was experiencing 2) I started to get that rough idle 3) I was just getting tired… lol!

Anyways, Thanks for the good times and thanks to all the guys on this forum for all your support. If I can “pay-it-forward” at any point please don’t hesitate to ask.

I think I have your 12.4 pass on video. I will find it…

Here it us. I was inside though, so you can’t hear the hop or anything.

Good to make use of that nice, warm, newly discovered area with sofas - dragstrip in style!

logs. 'cause you know I like to share…and my friend Tsivas loves logs. Funny you made the F1 comparison Bear…now we look at the data. These are the runs before the really fast ones, from what I remember: 12.4@116, 12.06@117, 12.06@118, 11.93@118.6, 11.95@118.

Haha Bear see how much wheelspin you get the first run. You were doing 55 km/h in less than a second.

Bear is hitting 16++ psig pretty easily in 3rd, 4th gear (base pressure was 993 hPa).

Soooo…why does the ignition timing drop off 3 degrees in 3rd, 4th, 5th gear? Tsivas, it sorta looked like your recent logs. I’m sure it’s because the car is producing so much goddamn boost. I’d say each psig of boost retards ignition by 2-3 degrees in this area of the map. Maybe we can get Arin and/or Silentbob to troll on in here and confirm. I didn’t log knock, but I can’t see such a consistent 2-3 degrees drop from knock.

Mercedes S600? I’d would have liked to see that video. Sounds like you guys had a great time. I’ll be there in the spring.

Bear, Once again congrats my man! Trap is FAST as hell! I told you I had a good feeling going in for you… lol DA was incredible… I like a low DA but prefer it with a little sun and heat to the track and lowered via higher BP and lower humidity… Not sure I’ll ever see one that low, but got to take what you can get… Was this on the standard 100 tune or the 104? I may have to try the 104 tune as I have it also… What kind of fuel did J give you? 94 with toulene or straight race gas? MS109? Yeah, sucks Thompson was closed but it ended up drizzling anyway so they saved me the trip… Supposed to be nice all week and low 50’s so I should get another crack Sat. They are open through Nov. weather permitting…

everyone’s trap speeds were up. To a man.

-my stock RS4 trapped 109.X a few times (vs. 108.3-108.5 in April when I went 12.75)
-bangoman trapped 105.something a few times (vs. 103-104 in April)
-axel trapped 113-114 (vs all over the map trap speeds in past visits)
-mistro trapped 113 a bunch of times in his stockish RS4 (only has 2 of his 4 cats gutted with main cats left in tact, NO tune, phenolic spacers and an h-pipe for sound inserted in the stock catback in place of resonators)
-george’s E92 M3 trapped 114-115 (he has a tune and has his precats gutted but main cats intact)

So a perfect day for making power for everyone. A bit tougher for ET as we were all on the spin cycle.

The car we haven’t mentioned was the APR stage 1 B8 S4 (MT6) . He also had a catback I believe, and a Eurocode shifter that he wanted to take out and beat flat with a hammer by the end of the day (wouldn’t go in gear…all kinds of weird issues). His best time that I saw were 12.81 @ 109 (we thought it was 12.61 but the left lane clock kept fooling us…at one point all the guys were texting me ‘YOU JUST RAN 12.63!!!’…only to find it was actually 12.83 on the official printout lol). He and I lined up for a couple of head to head races and we each missed a shift like rookies. So on one run I watched him run 12.91 @ 108 while I cruised down in 20 seconds after blowing a gear change. On the next run he watched me run 12.83 @ 109.2 after he missed 3rd lol.

Saki, Interesting on the stage I APR 6-speed car… Everyone raves about the EC shifter, wonder if it was an install issue? Is the person a member here?

So did you race the M3? I know you wanted to, sorry if I missed it… Just curious how that turned out… Sucks you didn’t get a personal best but sounds like the car ran good anyway… Probably a little better traction and you would have had it…

Glad everyone had a good time and it doesn’t sound like there was an breakage so that is always good! lol
