So I just completed the valve cover gasket reseal and timing belt refresh on my 04 2.7tt, upon starting I received the following codes:
Address 01: Engine Labels: 078-907-551-AZA.lbl
Part No: 4Z7 907 551 S
Component: 2.7L V6/5VT G 0020
Coding: 07755
Shop #: WSC 02334
VCID: 53A54C35A1E7C8B983D-5140 WA1YD64B24N055171 AUZ7Z0C2479920
2 Faults Found:
16730 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G163)
P0346 - 35-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16725 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
P0341 - 35-00 - Implausible Signal Readiness: 0110 1101
So I removed the right bank sensor checked the cups alignment and thoroughly cleaned then reinstalled. I cleared the codes and restarted and got the same error. The car is slow to start and cranks for a while, but starts and idles fine. Could the cams be off a degree or two and it still idle fine?
Any ideas? Am I correct in thinking the only method for adjusting the timing is manually aligning the marks on the cams and crank? This is how I reset the cams and cam sprockets, then rotated the engine by the crank two full revolutions and checked the marks and all was fine. ???
