19x8.5 ET35 265/35/19 - To aggressive?

I’ve been scouring the web looking for 19x8.5 ET35 examples on a C6 S6. I know the OEM wheels are 19x9 ET52.

I have been given a set of new (<2k miles) Michelin Pilot Sport 265/35/19 and have been eyeing Peeler style replica wheels which are only available in 19x8.5 ET35 in satin black. I’ve purchased from this selling in the past with great success.

Is this offset too aggressive?

Will there be poke from the fender?

Does anyone have example images?

There are ET45 options out there, just not in the style I’m looking for.

Thanks, guys!

It’s going to be close. I run a 265/35/19 on my winter setup. My wheels are 19x9 et42.

You can see the fronts are pretty much spot on, in terms of fitment. I get the odd rubbing on the front inner liner, when driving over a large dip in the road, but definitely nothing serious.

The rears could probably use a small spacer, to get perfectly flush.

My guess is that you will rub pretty heavy on the liner up front with that setup at et35, especially if you are lowered. You may get away with it if you cut out the outer portion of the fender liner, and roll the inside lip. But, I cant say for sure. And if the front fenders are aluminum, then rolling the lip is a huge pain.

Now, because it is an 8.5 (compared to a 9,) it will actually make the tire a tiny bit narrower. So, that few mm may be enough.

However, a 265/35/19 is designed to run on a 9-10.5 inch wheel. So, I wouldn’t recommend an 8.5 period.

Don’t know if it helps, I’ve got 20x10et35 on my car and it tucks wheel in the rear and almost in the front with 255/35r20… I’ll post pics tomorrow.

I’m running same tire, with et33 offset. no rubbing that I’ve noticed. Fitment is pretty flush, but without mudflaps the sides of the car catch a lot of crap from the front wheels.

Thanks, guys.

To err on the side of caution I’ve picked up a set of powder coated black OEM 19x9 C6 S6 wheels. Since the tires I’m receiving were originally equipped with this rim, it should remove any chances off fitment issues.

At ET52 I could apply 12mm hub centric spacers for a +40 stance. Should look a bit more agressive while avoiding rubbing. If anyone thinks 10mm spacers are recommended for +42 just shout.

Will also be picking up OEM black center caps:

Much better idea!

Nice!

Be careful when ordering 10mm spacers for your Audi. On the previous Audi’s that I have owned, you had to go with 8mm or 12mm to maintain hubcentric. A 10mm spacer is very close to the same height as the hub (on my previous C5s.) So, you either have to go with an 8mm (or less) to allow for the hub to poke through, or a 12mm, to allow for the spacer design to extend the hub for hubcentric.

Well,

My powder coated OEM wheels arrived damaged via FedEx. They are back off to the seller at the moment, though after not receiving a single reply from the seller or Fedex… the worst communication I’ve ever had with an ebay merchant.

It also turns out the tires that are available to me are 20" - so I guess it worked out for the best. I’ll update which rims I end up going wit.

Nothing is every easy it seems with purchases lately. Bought an intake plenum that arrived with a hairline crack near one of the mounting threads. Can’t win!

ACK! I thought my luck with the postman was bad… :frowning: Don’ worry, eventually everything will get sorted! Curious as to why you only have access to 20" tires?

i run 20x9 et35 with 265/35 on mine and the run fine

Not to Shanghai the thread but Im looking at running a 20x10.5 with 275/30…the wheel is available in a et35 and et45 im wanting to get the most concave look so leaning towards the et45 or will this set up not work?

I fit 19x10et42 in the rear no problems, but depending on the wheel design you’ll be fighting with the front brake caliper at et45 in the front.

20x10et35 Rotiform SPFs clear the brakes and fit pretty flush. What wheel are you going with? And the et shouldn’t have any bearing on the concavity (is that a word?))

Im looking at getting some kmc districts they offer 20x8.5 and 20x10.5 in et35 and et45 since I already have tires (275/30/20) i would go for the 10.5s

here’s a pic with my 20x10et35 and where the lip would be (aired out of course)

here’s that same set up on the stock S6 Suspension with the 255/35/20 tire…

Going to Will they fit.com gives me this data on the wheel fitments:

Compared to my set up:

                  20x10et35 20x10.5et35
                  255/35r20 275/30r20

Diameter 686.5mm 673mm
Circumference 2156.7mm 2114.3mm
Poke 92mm 98.4mm
Inset 162mm 168.4mm
Ride height gain 0mm -6.75mm
Arch gap loss 0mm -6.75mm

Compared to the 20x10et35, your wheel will have an inner rim which is 6.3mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 6.3mm more than before.

The et45 would have 88.4mm poke and 178.4mm inset

et45 will have an inner rim which is 16.4mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 3.7mm less than before.

the et35 for the rear will be aggressive and the front will have poke at stock height. If it was me i’d get the et45 and play with some spacers. I personally thing et42 would be right on the money for fitment, but depends on what you’re doing suspension wise.

As the car gets lower the wheels naturally camber inwards.

Thanks for the info! As far as suspension goes i would probably do h&r springs in the future but stock height for now.

Ok I ordered 1 wheel (et45) for fitment testing just got it in yesterday and quickly put it on the front…the spokes don’t clear the caliper but after stacking to 3mm spacers i had laying around they clear fine. Spacers and lug bolts ordered for the front. I’ll test the rear tonight and if that goes well I’ll have a tire mounted to check for final clearance and poke amount…

Wheels look awesome. Have the same jack too!

One thing to consider on the brakes is that the caliper is a sliding caliper, so depending on the brake pad wear that caliper could be maybe 2mm closer to the wheel with brand new pads. I haven’t done a measurement of new pads yet, but will do that soon.

I would suggest seeing if 5mm of spacers fit up front just to give you more breathing room.

Right now I have 2mm of space between the caliper and wheel and have about 60% brake pad life for your reference.

Thanks! Good to know didnt think about that…pads are fairly new up front so i ordered some 6mm spacers for now…the rear wheel was really close to the shock and inner fender liner so the 3mm spacer seemed to look ok…i wont know until i get a tire on it and put it on the ground

Well, I only found out about the caliper issue when I bought my wheel and fitted them lol.

The rear looks like you may need a 3-5mm spacer & maybe run a little negative camber (i have mine maxed out) easy to adjust its the top bolt on the spindle, and you turn it so the eccentric bolt moves to the setting you want. You’ll incur a bit more tire wear tho.

Got the tire mounted and test fit went well…no obvious clearance issues with fender/liner or spindle. Still waiting on my 6mm spacers to come in for the front to check my caliper clearance anyway here’s how it looks thus far
