2000 Audi A6 C5 4.2L V8

Hi my name is Vince and I am new to this forum but not new to the Audi World and am on other sites. I feel though that other audi sites are being loaded with…well assholes. So i want to settle here since i have been watching this site for awhile. I currently own two audis. A 2001.5 Audi S4(SOLD), A 2002 Audi A6 C5 3.0L V6 (Motor Threw A Rod So She Now Sits), and my newest addition the 2000 Audi A6 C5 4.2L V8.

I wanted to make this thread to show my new car and keep it updated with things I am going to do to it. Pretty much a build thread.

So here is the car as she sits…I am the second owner and have done nothing to the car so far besides adding the chrome mirror caps and adding a Phat Noise PhatBox to the trunk. The car is completely stock. The previous owner did some exterior cosmetic mods as you can see but that is all.

She has black interior with audi sport seats, solar sunroof, power rear sunshade, Manuel rear door sunshades,<<Hot Weather Package, 5 speed tiptronic :frowning: , Audi Sport Suspension Package, Audi Cold Weather Package, Bose Stereo System, and more.

Ok for starters i fixed the previous owners attempt to smoke the corners of the headlight. Guess he has never heard of clear corner mod. So I lightly sanded his spray down and resprayed it with rustoleum liquid smoke. I extended it out and put black pin strip as the cut off mark.

Welcome, Vinnie. That previous attempt at smoked lights is awful! Good work on clearing it up. There’s plenty of fans of the belt driven 4.2, especially in the A6 guise!

Thankyou…i was hoping the belt driven a6 4.2l v8 widebody love was still around. I have been in contact with JHM and they say they have some top secret, “as in they wont tell me”, upgrades for the belt driven a6 4.2l v8 cars being released soon. and to tell spread the word that they have not forgotten about us.

I just got some goodies in mail…will post pics of them on car tomorrow. :slight_smile:

The 4.2 A6 is a cool car. Love the badass widebody. I see the odd ones driving around now lowered and they look so mean.

i am wondering if anyone can tell me if the jhm tcu tune gets rid of the acceleration problem.

i floor in and 4 seconds later it slowly takes off until it gets going. i did the soft coding recode of 00032 but it didnt do much for acceleration. just made tiptronic not auto shift and drive hold longer in rpm range.

More A6 guys vinnie welcome to the forum… I hesr you on the other forums…such ass…most otuer forums are full of peole who dont know shit but talk like they really know everything… I would say all the smart guys are on here…you dont get a ton of chatter and back fill posts but you get good suport…

On the jhm tune I would say yes… I did on the S4 I don’t see why not on the A6…the good thing for you and the other a6 guys is the guy who rights the tunes fkr the car is on this site…

So i got my Audi Allroad aluminum door blades in the mail today. its drizzling here but decided to install them anyway. Paid $160 USD shipped. Pretty sweet deal. they have no scratches, chip or broken clips. there a little oxidized but ill take care of that tomorrow with some compound.

They go good in my eyes with rims. What ya think? Ill post pics tomorrow when its nicer and shes detailed

Added my own custom decal today. I own a graphtec ce600-60 so i can design my own decals in adobe illustrator cs6 and cut them on my graphtec ce600-60. If anyone is interested in wanting something shoot me a pm.

put a Porsche 911 oil cap and coolant cap on today. Also noticed that my intake manifold actuator linkcage arm is broke. and the one that broke must have been broke for some because the lever to open and close the intake flap is seized. time to get some billet aluminum ones.

also this magnesium intake manifold get damn hot. real hot. my plastic one on my audi a6 3.0 hardly got warm.
anyway to help this as its heat soaking to hell. A hood scoop would help but i cannot see putting one on this car at ALL

Can you get intake spacers like for the S4? The difference in palpable temp after driving is considerable after comparing saki’s stock car and mistro’s car with spacers (just to touch)

well im getting the JHM intake spacers order now…but that wont help that much. all the heat is from the exhaust manifolds heat soaking the hell out of the engine bay. my car is a 2000 so it has the s6 style exhaust manifold. I might just get the ceramic coated (REAL COATING NOT PAINT). Inside and out.
