2007 S6 - Airbags

A while ago the airbag light came on in our S. Vag-Com reports that both front air bag sensors are bad?

2 Faults Found:
01739 - Crash Sensor for Front Airbag; Pass. Side (G284)
            014 - Defective - Intermittent - MIL ON
01738 - Crash Sensor for Front Airbag; Drivers Side (G283)
            014 - Defective - Intermittent - MIL ON

This seems like maybe something more electronic (common supply or ground) issue more than two sensors failing at the same time. Does someone have a wiring diagram that shows the front sensors?

I don’t mind conceding and purchasing two new sensors, but it seems a bit fishy that both would be called defective at the same time.

Thanks!

I wouldn’t worry just yet.

Clear the codes and see if they come right back. The Audi air bag system is nororious for not working well in cold weather. In most cases you will see the codes are from the coolder months where for whatever reason the system seems to not function properly off and on.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve noticed that many of the modules of the car suffer from… gremlins

I just cleared it, multiple times. Its back as soon as I clear the error reappears. Could both sensors be bad? I’m guessing that if there is a bad fuse, then I’d be getting more errors? I’m going to try swapping driver and passenger this week to see if that helps.

The crash sensor is in the bumper. It would be odd that both of them would go bad at the same time. What happens if you do a full system scan of all the modules.
