2008 S6 C6 - should I gut rear cats?

Hey guys, on all my turbo cars I have always gutted cats…Is it worth it to gut the reachable lower cats on the 5.2? I am getting my exhaust done on Friday… 3" , x-pipe, removing stock resonators and adding 3" resonators in back & 4" round magnaflow mufflers… I don’t really want to remove the motor to gut the upper cats… Thoughts?

Thanks guys

Gutting the rear cats will cause issues. Unless your going to drop the motor and do all the cats you would be just gutting the cats for a few cylinders on each side leaving the other cylinders with cats. that would cause issues with the flow and the tune.

Also if you gut the cats your going to want to have the JHM tune as you will get a dash light and the car will run a little rich if you dont

That’s what I figured. Thanks for replying. I will be getting the exhaust and K&N filters on this week and it looks like the guys at the shop can now get to JHM to access the tune, so will schedule that for next week.

Is the TCU tune seperate through JHM? Anyone know?

Well, the ECU and TCU tune were two separate entities for me, but I would call/email them directly to inquire.

Should be fun keep us updated.

The JHM ECU and TCU tune are two different things. The issue is with the JHM ECU tune they work the areas all the other companys dont toutch that actually effect the Transmission behavior. So you get a good transmission boost from the JHM ECU tune.

Great! That’s what I wanted to hear. I will let everyone know how it goes. Looking forward to it.
