2009 S6 Performance Brake Pad Recommendations

I have a 2009 S6 and I need brake pads. I’m a long time Honda/Acura owner, so I’m not familiar with what high performance pads are available for my S6. I’m looking for a high performance pad that does not dust off or squeak as much as Hawk pads do. I won’t be tracking my S6, so the pads don’t need to provide that level of performance.

So guys, any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mario.

Whatever you do, don’t go with EBC. VERY, VERY dusty, and also wrecked my rotors (which were also EBC). Now I have Hawk HPS on there, which it sounds like you already tried… sorry, I don’t have any other recommendations. I like the hawks so far.

Which EBC did you have? I had them on previous cars and they were fine. Redstuff is low dust compound which will over most driving except track use. Yellowstuff are dustier than redstuff but less then OEM in my experience

I’ve used almost every pad out there (EBC, Akebono, Hawk, Ferrodo, etc.)

For daily driven cars I absolutely prefer the StopTech Street Performance pads. They’re actually reasonably priced and provide everything I look for in a daily driver brake pad (good feel, decent fade resistance to some aggressive use, low dust, low noise).

This.

I like Redstuff pads for street driven cars and I have YellowStuff pads on my S4 that sees track time. The only real downside to Redstuff pads is that they take a long time to bed in. ECStuning claims 1K miles but it isn’t that long most of the time. The YellowStuff pads bite hard, dust a lot like OEM, and don’t fade. Even with multiple hard slowdowns from 150+ mph down to 40-50 mph.

Have never liked Hawk pads. They don’t bite well, the backing plates don’t fit well, and they are noisey.

Akebono pads that I have dealt with are all on low dust street driving. They work OK with few complaints.

A lot of the B6/7/8 S4 and RS4 guys like CarboTech pads too.

We always have really good results with the hawk pads: https://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalog/front-brake-pads-hawk-hps-street-for-s6-s8-v10-fsi-p-4027.html

Specially when coupled with our lightweight rotors… https://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalog/front-rotors-pair-jhm-piece-lightweight-for-s6-s8-v10-p-3958.html

I’ve been running EBC Reds on stock rotors for about 15K now. Work very well for aggressive street driving, zero noise and very low dust, nothing like OEM pads.
My .02$

I’m not sure which EBC pads were pulled off my car at the last service, but I used EBC redstuff on my old Subaru, and yes the performance was great (though they needed to be HOT for the best grip), but the dust was awful and the pads were gone after 15k miles.

Whatever EBC pads I had on the S6 were terrible with dust too.

Plus one for carbotechs, had great experience with them

I just put EBC Redstuff and stoptech slotted rotors on mine. Liking them so far. Can’t say much about dust yet, car was filthy before I did the brakes and still is.
