2010+ RNS-e in B6/7 A4/S4/RS4 - Anyone done it yet? Thinking about it?

I want one. Problem is the guy haagie (nice guy, very helpful) wants like $1700 for a plug and play kit. That seems like a terrible deal for a reasonably crappy OEM nav system. Problem 2 is that I like OEM look.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone had done this yet? I did find an ebay seller who offered a more competitive price, but just wonndering how involved (if at all) the transfer process is. I hate taking my interior apart.

Biggest thing I’m interested in is the 32 GB SD-HC card capacity…the older units with th 4gb max are better than nothing, but shuffling cards about with only 500 songs per card is a bit lame. Also the iPod interface is basically useless, so this would turn the unit into a 64 GB iPod (2x32).

The screen is LED and is supposed to be improved over the old RNSe so that’s nice. Also traffic updates and stuff are available, but not sure I care about that as I avoid Toronto whenever possible thus traffic isn’t a big concern.

New ones look pretty sleek, but you just have to question at what price. As you are well aware, you can easily sell your RNS-E for ~$700 and possibly more. I know you don’t like aftermarket, but it may be worth seeing how much of an upgrade the new dynavin unit is and see if that’s a competitive option.

definitely won’t go aftermarket.

My RS4 has a symphony II so I need some sort of NAV solution. Rather than going aftermarket, I’ll pay the premium for an RNSe 2010+, knowing I can sell it for 80% of what I pay for it should I ever decide to sell the car.

I had a Dynavin in my A4. Sold it, stayed with my symphony saving up for a RNS-E, then it got totaled and my S4 has an RNS-E.

In other words, i would take an RNSE over the dynavin. It has some features but idk how “smooth” it all felt.
I would love to have the newer b8 Navi into the RNSE though but its not possible =(
