3.0 Avant w/ Sport Sups- what size rear swaybar?

I want to get a S4 rear swaybar. So far my info is that S4=20mm , 3.0 sport susp=18mm
Is this correct?

Wondering if they went heavier w/ the V6.

I think that is correct about the S4 rear sway. From what I recall the RS4 uses a 22mm sway (the H&R is a 22mm solid sway bar) and then there is the Hotchkis sway bar that is 24mm with a sport & aggressive setting but it is a hollow bar. Some argue about the H&R being stronger since it’s solid, but the H-sport is the only one known to break the sway end links, so I’d sat it’s the H-sport for sure.

Sorry to get a little off topic there, but thought I’d fill in what I know about the S4 rear way upgrade options. I would guess that the A4 had the same sway regardless of engine size or sport suspension if the stock is 18mm and the S4 is 20mm.

If the placement all matches up (which I’d be a bit doubtful of, but ya never know) you could probably pick up a S4 rear sway bar for nothing. If I still had mine I’d just send it to ya for shipping cost, sorry, I chunked it a while ago though.

I haven’t read anything that says the 3.0 or sport suspension has a diff. rear sway then the other A4’s so I think they are all 18mm. I’ve been trying to find this out, but I think the USP may also be the same as all A4 rear sways (somebody correct me if I’m wrong).

This being the case I’d get an RS4 rear sway if you had to buy one, but I wouldn’t pass up an S4 one if you could snag one for free.

All B7/6 rear swaybars are interchangable between platforms, I currently run a RS4 rear sway and love it. It makes the car a lot more nuetral. Below is a list of sizing for rear sways

A4 non sport = 16mm
A4 sport = 18mm
S4 = 20mm
RS4 = 22mm

You can pick up a RS4 sway from ecs for around $200, it is a pretty good bang for your buck mod

Great info. Is there any need to upgrade the front one or is the rear all thats needed

The front sway bar is the same across the A4, S4 and RS4, the only time you would upgrade it is if you were going with the H-Sport kit
