4:1 center diff thud in slow turn

I think i may have found my answer but i would rather confirm here. Recently did a bunch of stuff to the car and the center diff being one of them. Ive noticed in my limited driving so far that on very slow and turning the wheel alot in corners i get repeated thudding noise and feeling.

Is this due to the mod being done? I think i read somewhere that JHM removes something in the diff (teflon?) and because of this at low speeds when turning hard this is something you have to deal with now. Its not a big deal at all for me, but before i send my diff back and get my core refunded i wanted to make sure we installed this right AND it was working correctly. Its almost like when the quattro system kicks in but now its much more pronounced then before. Thanks guys.

Is it mostly when going in or out of a parking space? Do you notice it when doing a slow u-turn?

If so then a few people have noticed that and it is normal.

That’s the way mine is, ever since I installed the 4:1 center diff.

What fluid are you running? I switched to Motul Gear 300 after having the same problem and it helped a lot. Pretty much the only time this happens now is in very cold weather and when the car is cold.

It’s normal it’s hard to explain what’s happening but it’s like now none of the wheels are slipping or spinning at a slower rate so your kinda dragging one wheel almost. It’s not something that’s doing to cause something to break but you feel it…

JimS4 said what i have heard a few guys say. A different fluid can buffer more of the feeling.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. Its mostly when slow parking or U turns. I do sometimes feel it had high speeds when turning quick (although it may be wheels and weight transfer of the car at speed).

Im running the redline fluid on JHM website for the tranny flush kit they have. I just did a flush but if switching to motul will lessen the feeling i may switch. If so would i need another tranmission filter seeing as i just replaced it or will the one i just put in be ok? (in other words whenever you switch oil do you need a new filter).

You have an automatic, right? If so, the ATF isn’t shared with the differential and you would just change the differential fluid and wouldn’t need to replace the ATF filter.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.
