RS4 with piggies, JHM tune, stock catback
or
S4 with JHM tune, full 2.5 catless and a few lightweight parts
just wondering. Logically I’d put the money on the rs4 but ive seen lots of weird things happen to RS4s in races.
If both are healthy and in an equal race I would guess the rs4? Looking at the 1/4 mile times an rs4 of that caliber could probably break 12s, whereas an s4 would need to have headers and intake manifold to crack that.
Best way to find out would be a race, and film it ;D
The JHM RS4
Starting with 60 more hp the RS4 has a good advantage. Even some of the weak RS4’s have dynoed well. The weak spot for the RS4’s seems to be TQ. While I havent had the ability to be in a JHM chipped RS4. I still think I can come to this conslusion.
My car picked up a TON of power with a JHM chip. I know the S4’s do very well with a JHM chip. I know the RS4’s have some Tq limmits on them stock add to that the JHM chip with a already 60hp advantage. It would be RS4 by a long shot of you ask me.
Stat wise
S4 340hp 13.6 1/4mile
RS4 400hp 13.0 1/4mile I know the RS4 has advertised more hp but I just don’t see the RS4 having the same power as the R8.

rs4 for sure, ive been in both and the rs4 is nasty with a tune…really nasty!
In terms of car. The RS4 is well ahead of the S4. The S4 is still a powerhouse but the RS4 has much more left on the table then the S4 in terms of tune. As its been said the RS4 already starts with much more hp then the S4.
I know carbon has always been an issue for the RS4. A carbon free RS4 should be able to take out a S4 with the same or slightly more mods.
From what Ive been told. Jay and his Supercharged car and Dan’s car are close when they race. Jay walks dan up top but it takes a little distance to do so.
Don’t forget the gears and redline for the RS, huge advantage there.
Yeah … from what i remember i was well into 4th gear when the RS shifted up to 4th.

The RS4 was filled with Sakimano-farts and was much lighter as a result (displaced the heavier oxygen in the cabin).

here’s my b7 s4 with jhm tune and full exhaust. No intake mani…no headers…stock wheels, full weight.
Damn it’s pretty awesome to see a lightly modded S4 run 12s. I didnt think people were getting that fast without headers and IM. I think it might almost be a drivers race after seeing that run.

thanks. JHM knows what they’re doing with these cars. Here’s a sampling of what the B6/7 world has seen. Notice the absolute dominance by the JHM tuned cars. Funniest part? My car ran faster than 2 of the 5 VF/PES/RAI supercharged cars.
