4+ years of ownership, and STILL a hoot to drive...

So, I’m 4+years into B8 S4 ownership, and really still enjoy the car about as much as the day I got it.

90K miles already (!!!) , thanks to a 70+ mile round-trip commute…

It’s been tuned and lowered since the day I got it. I added SS brake lines and Motul 600 shortly after I bought it in preparation for a track event, and replaced the OEM brake rotors with slotted rotors once the OEMs were finished. It’s really been a pleasure to own, with the only actual repair having been a failed thermostat at about 82K miles. Do I think that thermostats shouldn’t fail at 82K? Yes, but I can forgive that with everything else the car offers. Considering the multiple HPDEs and dozens of 1/4 mile passes that the car has made, it’s holding up really well.

Have thought from time to time about adding a pulley and related tune, but really, the car is plenty quick enough as is for daily driving. I sold my previous A6 with 145K miles on it. I don’t think I’ll hang onto this one quite that long, but who knows…

Car and Driver said it best when they called the B8 S4 “one of the finest sports sedans ever made”. I couldn’t agree more!

Good stuff! I’ll be at five years of ownership in August - hope to hit 20,000 miles by then! ;D

In that time, I’ve had two major issues. One was the car going into limp mode a few years ago, and the dealer replaced my injectors under warranty (despite TD1). The second was the faulty starter, which was not replaced under warranty (because TD1). I created a thread about that whole saga in the B8 section last year. I got fucked royally on that one.

Glad your still enjoying the car. Thats what it is all about

Great to hear you’ve had such durability and longevity on a tuned car. Mine is only 6 months/2400 miles in and I tuned @ about 3 months -wouldn’t change a thing. I’m sure I’ll get TD1 eventually but I’m not losing any sleep on it unlike the goofs over on AZ. Car is awesome at the power level it has an it’s as fast as i need for daily driving. I don’t think most realize how fast a low 12 second car is- unless you want RD tickets it has more than is usable in most situations. Here’s to hoping you get another 90k

Nice! This March marked my 5th year with the car, time flies! Its been absolutely wonderful to me and I am in love with it more than ever. Stayed stock pretty much for the first 57k miles and then slowly started the mod process, now its a FBO monster. Aside from the water pump at 6k and mech unit repair at 56k miles it hasn’t given me any other issues. Right at 67k miles now

Here she was in 2010 (blackberry had a horrible camera back then!):

And now in 2015:

5 years June 3rd for me… 9,047 miles currently ;D May hit 10,000 this year… For sure if wife decides to use it as a daily…

Tuned since 2,000ish miles in sept. 2010…

Wp changed during audicare service and battery died during winter storage, no other issues…

^^ haha that’s gotta be one of the lowest mileage 2010s in the country

Clochner: You and Primetime are probably BOTH among the lowest-mileage 2010s out there!

Also, what happened to you with regards to TD1 was really bogus.

Car looks great!

I also had a new t-stat and water pump back when the car was new, but since that stuff was covered under a service action/recall, I didn’t mention it.

Here’s mine (VMR 710s+PSS):

I actually have a 2011. And ya, that starter replacement thing really sucked. #paytoplay . . .

Whoops.

Been to the strip at all this year?

The B8 S4 is an excellent car. Because I’m a car geek, people always ask me what car to get. Amazing is how many people I have recommended it to, that have resulted in purchases. It’s easily over 5. Not many know of it, but when they drive one, they just find it’s an excellent choice. It’s just hard to fault it.

Not this year, but Ynnekdude and I went over the fall. I set a new personal best of 12.3 something, but I think my car has officially plateaued. Not much more I can get out of it sans race gas.

Thank you! Love the 710’s, they look so good on our cars. I actually had them in gunmetal prior to the Renn’s. Miss them but I had to get something more lightweight in the pursuit of being faster haha

5 years in March. 26,000 miles.
