Below is a clip from last weekend at Daytona, around the two minute mark I catch up with a CTS-V following a R8. Despite some traffic here and there we were a closer match than I thought. I’m not comparing the two as there are many variables with such events.
After the session, the R8 driver approached me “asking how I was so fast”. Thought I would share.

Seriously. How fucking fun does that look. What kinds of speeds would you see on those long banks?
On the back stretch not much higher than 145mph, on the front low 160’s. Yea, it’s a bunch of fun!
That’s pretty quick, what do you have done to your car?
Were you able to pull on the r8 in the straights, or vice versa, or was it pretty even?
Bet we could predict your quarter mile time from this video.

The R8 would exit the corners quicker then I would reel him in slowly. Really tough to gauge because of the many variables, I don’t have any doubt the driver was pushing it but slower traffic and driver abilities come into question.
The car is a real hoot to drive, the comments and reactions I get from other drivers are rewarding and quite comical at times. It stands out amongst the sea of Porsches and Corvettes.
