= FUCK ME!!! Rolling up to a stop light going <10mph, car slid for ~30 feet into the back of a chevy trucks bumper. truck not even scratched or dented. My hood has a dent in the front with the rest of the damage done as you can see. I hope/think its all superficial

  1. Pay out of the pocket picking up a RS5 grill, new OEM or Rieger bumper
  2. Make a claim and hand it over to the body shop
  3. Make a claim and try to get those parts installed in #1, which I believe high end most body shops will not do.

What do you think?

Oh man that sucks. I forgot where you are again.

Everyone’s take on insurance is different. Mine is that if the repair is going to be more than the deductible, make a claim. Although do your insurance premiums go up the next year if you make a claim this year.

First that sucks

Second, If you get Rieger I will pretend I don’t know you

Third, I would just self insure if the cist is under 1500. What’s your deductible? Do you really need a new bumper?

Consider painltess dent removal for the hood and stuff

Bangor if you make an at fault claim accident, your rates in Ontario go up for six years. That could be a ten to twenty percent increase, which stats in effect for the entire six years which could amount to more than two grand.

This is what im afraid of if I make a claim. Going to have to start with my insurance and go from there. I know that my insurance is not very lenient. To qualify for their coverage you must not have any at fault accidents within 5 years and 1 or less traffic violation within 3 years.

ROFL! isnt it pretty much a RS5 replica? -edit: I just found some more pics and sideviews. I agree with you now
My deductible is $500. Bumper has a 2inch tear in the upper right corner adjacent to the grill. It can be seen in the second pick on the far left side. And the bumper is pushed in throwing of hood, bumper, head light alignment on the right side. Left side (divers) is fine.

I really should have just rescheduled all my clients when I looked out the window this morning; instead I took the risk thinking i have the skill…heavy snow + summers = humbled my ego.

x2, same here… plus it’ll go on your record as an at fault accident which can jeopardize your license standing (for MA, not sure if its the same).

As long as it is solely cosmetic damage, I’d personally never report it.

x3, pay yourself. Wait for a big one to use insurance.

FWIW, I wouldn’t even talk to insurance, and I’d definitely cover your tracks with the other guy. Throw him a $100 gift certificate even if he doesn’t want anything.

I tagged an old guy in a camry from behind a couple years ago in the NSX, he started to go right at a red light, no cars coming, then inexplicably stopped halfway into the road. Nothing happened to the NSX fender (!) but I ripped his rear bumper trying to avoid him. He was an insurance adjustor, and proposed fixing his car privately. I was very grateful, even if he was a stupid driver.

Definitely pay it yourself. Doesn’t look like there is anything structural that got damaged which is when it starts getting really expensive really fast. My deductible is at 1000, and I still think I wouldn’t claim anything under 2k

Thanks for the advices.

I bought some epoxy and painters/electrical tape to patch things up for the time being. There are a few brackets that secure my headlight that are broken that will be epoxied.

Going to rice it out a few days and my drive to CA this week. Then have a new grill and bumper installed there. The RS5 upgrade is not going to happen since 1. parts are in Germany and need 4 weeks (B8 RS5 was never brought here, only the the facesmashed version). 2. $6000.

Live and learn. I feel like such a dumb ass right now. Im usually the one laughing at retards in snow, watching them hit shit.

epoxied the broken headlight brackets and electrical taped the shit out of my grill after doing my best to put it back together. Bring it on ricers!

Don’t bother with RS5 bumper shit because it will look stupid without the wide body.

Get the grill if you want. The honey comb in black looks great. Still a rip off though.

I would just get a S5 grille…there are probably a bunch for sale from guys who have gone to the RS5 grille. They might want one hundred bucks for their S5 grille?

Ya there is one on Audizine by Studman for $300.

The wide body factor, another point I didn’t think to consider…no wonder RS5 front conversion is $6000.
