A friend reached out to me, mentioning he had a friend who did a A8 6speed conversion. While the conversion was completed, the car ran like crap, couldn’t pass emissions and nothing electronically was working. Everything from ABS to ESP wasn’t working. While everything was installed right the A8’s computer systems were not playing nice. Some of the other cars you can code modules, others you actually have to write code to get them to work. The A8 is more complicated because it never came with a 6speed in any form. While he had another tuning shop try to tune it, it didn’t work and the car didn’t run well or pass readiness . He asked for me to take a look and see if I could tune it for him. Since I have done this so many times before for JHM, I said I would give it a shot and see what I could do. Even though JHM has done several 6speed A6 cars and S6 cars, the A8s can be tricky and this one was no different. After getting the car to run and drive properly, I tackled the readiness codes, after working through all of the systems to get them to not just run but pass, the car was all set so he could actually pass emissions and register the car.

But, I took it one step further and got one more thing to work.

Sure it might not be the most exciting thing you have ever seen. But if you did the conversion and had most of your functions not work on top of having the car not run right, I’m thinking this might be exciting.

The car looks real nice and its actually an interesting project.

As big as the A8 is the 4.2 really takes up a big part of the engine bay

The big shot. The carpets are a bit dirty but that’s because this car actually gets driven. This is his DD and he has had it since almost new.

Had the panel off, it made it easier to flash over and over while testing. But it’s a good picture of the peddles.

when we were going to Milan dragway with a few of us, including CV’s then stock 2.0T wagon, I asked him what time we were leaving.

CV - “I’m not sure but it better be soon because the wagon can’t run in the dark”

Me - “Why not?”

CV - “because it’s so slow, they use a sun dial to time it”

I am on the hunt for a a8 manual pedal cluster for my gutted a8 track car. If anyone has any leads let me know

You should be able to use A6 pedals
