This is the kind of stuff I cannot understand. Replacing parts just for the sake of replacing them. This poor IS300 is slowly suffering a horrible life. The 2JZ and supporting engine mods would have been enough.
It looks like a BMW now.
A stock looking, slightly lowered IS300 with some LW wheels and the same power mods would be 1000x more interesting than that fucking joke he created.
Also, all that bullshit…for 500 hp (hopefully…it’s not even doing that, that is just the goal once they tune it and get fuelling sorted out lol)
Last time I checked inline 6 with a massive turbo is the recipe for special. Not the recipe for ‘hopefully it makes what modern cars come with stock’
Why did they even write an article about this half finished build?
In B5 S4 world, it’d be a stage 3 minus car driven by a high school kid + a whole bunch of stupid JDM bodykit shit
Half of the problem is the fact that they just buy shit just for the sake of it. Wing…not needed, but rear bumper is needed…yet not in this case. Like I said, the only worthy bit is that 2JZ. He could have put all of that wasted money into something that would have been quite special, or even a real track dedicated car…1st Gen Miata, maybe??
the very first comment at the bottom of the article makes reference to the rocket bunny car from 6666 customs. that car is one of my all time favorite cars and still on my bucket list of car builds. the rocket bunny ia also a purpose built race car with a rb26 they bored out to a 3.0L and put a massive single turbo on. in my mind there is no comparison to this lexus. the 2jz swap is cool but that’s about it. I cant believe the numbers theyre “hoping” to get. those engines are pure dyno queens and have been tuned and fucked with a million times over with more than a few proven formulas to easily get over 500hp.
that wing just kills me. so so gay.
The wing, plus lack of full rear bumper, and receivers for the coilers in the front grille area just burned my eyes…so, yeah that’s about everything.
I’ve really come to appreciate and enjoy the engines of that generation (2jz and rb26) from first hand experience. That article and car are the poop in my jdm sandwich.
