I had not read this anywhere, not to say that it hasn’t been mentioned.
After intake, plugs and coils install with great care, the car idled and ran like crap. No way this is possible. All new parts and I’ve never made a mistake in my life. lol
That said; somehow I recalled or stumbled upon the answer.
Since the throttle body was removed & cleaned and new IM (flaps installed) I had to run the vagcom throttle body adaption and intake runner adaption.
Miraculous! Wow.
I could only do relatively short around the hood run due to radiator leak but idle is rock steady, acceleration smooth and just generally awesome.
May not be a bad idea to just run these calibrations occasionally just to establish zero.
I ran intake runner adaption with motor running, but not sure that was necessary. I don’t know if the outer flaps open gradually or all at once but it feels like all at once based on butt dyno.
All you really need to do is to leave the car in the acc mode for about 2min after you put the car back together and connect the battery again after all the work.
Putting the car into ACC mode will allow the throttle bodies to run there own leaning cycle and will allow the 02s to warm up and other sensors to come on line and do there self check. Including the intake manifold.
Also just a friendly suggestion. When you post consider using the enter key to space your sentences and paragraphs out. It makes for a much better read. Several of your posts have been giant walls of text. I know this can be a turn off for many people and some people wont even read most posts that are formatted like that.
Spacing out paragraphs is good forum etiquette. Something you might want to consider. It makes for a easy read for all.
