Advice and opinions need on some parts

I am piecing together parts for my car as I eagerly await my engine to arrive.

I need your opinions and advice.

After the great success of the Zingo mod, I was thinking of adding to it buy wraping it in the following

And before I install my SS headers I was planning on wraping it in this http://www.designengineering.com/category/catalog/dei-cycle/motorcycle-exhaust-pipe-wrap-kits/exhaust-wrap-black

My question to my fellow AR peeps is, are they worth it?

I have always wondered about this stuff to be honest. For the price and if it works well it would be great.
If you decide to go for it, I say we buy the 150’ piece. Then split the cost… Lmao

Where exactly on the air box were you thinking about wrapping it? The whole thing? Just curious.

I know there are a lot of 1.8 guys that use the exhuast wrap on their DPs and I would say it works as I still see them using it.

If anyone else has some feedback I would also like to hear, I’ve been on the fence a while about it also

Great Ideas.

I say for the air box. Pass, due to the fact that now the air box is trully sealed there is no need to add anymore heat barrior

as for the headers. Wrap them for sure. This will help keep the exhaust speed up due to keeping the exhaust temps up and it will stop the heat from dissipating into the engin bay. So deffinitl;y a good way to go.

Thanks guys.

With the gold wrap, I was thinking of wraping the whole intake tract and under the intake manifold once the spacers are installed. As it is almost summer here I thought it may be a good idea to do this.

How quickly does the air change temp once it is airbox and near a significant amount of heat?

put the gold foil under the intake manifold for sure. Its a radiant heat barrier, radiant heat works on line of sight… and the valley in the motor has a direct line of sight with the bottom of the intake manifold.

The low absorbtive gold foil will reflect the radiant heat away, it cant do much about the convection (make sure the surface is smooth to resist the fluid-surface conduction) though.

For the header wrap I HIGHLY recommend going with the DIE Titanium wrap. Wrapping the headers is a must, but their new wrap is A LOT more flexible and allows you to get better coverage for the tight areas with less kink’s etc. Take your time and don’t be afraid to use as many steel zip ties as you need. I spent about 2hours on each header and wrapped them once they were on the car as it can be tough to get access to some of the bolts if you wrap them before hand. I also wrapped mine from the start all the way down to the V-band, I used about 75’ per side if I recall.

The V8 guys stepping it up and adding lots of good information.

If I can pop in with this question. what are your guys thoughts on wrapping the Dps.

If the jhm Dps are 2.5 there big enough for flow so heat I would think isn’t going to be as big of an issue and heat wise there after the exhaust manifold so I would think that would be good

Thanks Maddog and Beem thats great info.

I was thinking of wrapping the DP’s as well. I mean it cant hurt.
