Most people who go with bigger turbos go with upgraded valvetrain that can spin 8k+ RPM (I do it on a regular basis).
And I personally would love a B8 S4 in a few years when they drop drastically in price. 400+whp and a potential 11 sec car that is a DD and gets 20+mpg; you can’t really beat forced induction for a daily driver for me.
I can’t wait to see what these new RS6-R’s will be like from JHM being that normally everything that comes from them is great…im running the FT’s and don’t have any complaints they seem to be a pretty good choice turbo for this motor ecspecially if you’re on a tight budget and dont want to put the money into the PJK04’s. What are everyone’s thoughts on the 034 single turbo kit? If you found a turbo that was just right not something for just dyno numbers i mean.
I’d say 034’s single turbo kit is still in testing phase so it’s hard to make a solid statement about it. If you go solely by what they’ve put out you can see that it still needs some work. I believe that will get resolved with the .64AR and some additional tuning. I’m waiting to see how the power band looks with the .64AR. I’m on their 1st production run list so I want to see that data before the final decision of my turbo choice. I may lean towards the PT5858 as I plan to utilize a stock bottom end and if/when I plan to do, at minimum, a rod upgrade I can change turbos. Time will tell.
That turbo kit is closer designed for a budget build (compared to converting to single turbo). I think it will yield some positive results when completed.
Yea i would also like to see the data results or some real world results from the strip with a smaller sized turbo i would hope the tuner could make it so the powerband is similar to rs6 but with a much easier turbo change it does take some pf the worrie out of the situation
Lol show me an eleven second b8 that gets 20 mpg. Those guys are on average getting 19 mpg (mostly stock on fuelly.com. That’s oh offer 1.5 million miles logged real world.
Someone said 034 went all the way to wustefest but wouldn’t race anyone in the single car. Too bad…that kit looks pretty cool for the young B5 owners who want to save a few bucks. If it is legit…it will be amazing.
Well i hope they had a good reason for it! But yea ive had my B5 for like 4yrs and just recently really got into the power adders not looking for anything crazy just something fun to drive and something to take to the track once in a while. I would love to go single but just like with the tials not till some proven results.(I know tials arent a single setup just glad i didnt go that route now seeing the results from the truth on this site)
If I would do it all over again, I would most definitely go single… I enjoyed my Tial 605 kit very much but cost wise especially with the release of 034’s kit it’s a no brainier.
Also highly believe that the one single biggest issue with any turbo larger then a K04 is the stock Exhaust and intake manifolds… they’re just too restrictive to show what a good turbo can really do and that includes both Tial kits.
I find it funny that you and many others hated on my single turbo in the past, but now it seems y’all were just upset because y’all were without. I told you that your 605’s were trash. I guess you are finally admitting to it. Haha
Fuelly.com says 19.7, 19.0 19.4, and that’s average driving. I’m sure I could get at least 20mpg if I tried, but those numbers are close enough enough for me not to worry about nit-picking, because my point was about the principals, not the nit-picky details of trying to argue 1 mpg with you. My point is/was: Relatively good gas mileage and relatively powerful forced induction daily driver car is my ideal for a daily driver, and I’d love to daily a B8 S4 in the future when the prices drop.

Lol, you really believe that people hated on you because of anything to do with your car? You were far from the first single turbo B5 V6, you weren’t the first to come up with using the 2.8 manifolds, you weren’t the first to put the turbo in that location (other than turning the turbo 90 degrees so that you now can’t run an air filter). Nobody hated on the people who did single turbos before you, and nobody hated on you because you have a single turbo on your car. Even with the hack-ish fabrication, I guarantee if you would’ve just posted pics and been like, ‘Here’s my project I’m doing in my back yard, I’m doing my best. What do you think?’ then you would’ve got nothing but responses like ‘Keep at it,’ ‘Props,’ etc.
People hate on you because you are a douche online, not because you have an ugly car with questionable welds.
I don’t come on the forum to have people tell me (your car looks nice, I like your welds and a bunch of other phony crap). That is what people like you need. I’m proud of my car and I’m pretty sure I have inspired many people to do single builds, including guruman. What’s up with your updates? It’s been 4 years
You are delusional man. One of Guru’s personal mechanics has had a single turbo 2.7t year(s) before your car, and Guru had talked about some of the technical details about a single turbo swap before you even uttered the word ‘single turbo’ on the forums a few years ago. Think what you want if it feeds your ego though
No updates on my car, just enjoying driving it as my daily driver, just as it has been since I got it running over 6 months and 4k+ miles ago. Not sure why you’re convinced that I’ve already upgraded/fixed my car, but it’s fun seeing your transparently dropping confidence ha.
So 19 not 20+ then…and not even 19 for the modded guys never mind the two cars who did run elevens (at the same track)…and definitely not running elevens on pump that allows the stock guys to get 19 (you’ll need race gas for that so you had better not have any dreams of running straight pump and doing pulls that will see you act anything like an eleven second car).
No, I mean 20+. Like I said, that is an average value on Fuelly (which, if you to get ticky-tacky and average to the nearest MPG for 2010-2012 [19.7, 19.0 and 19.4 mpg respectively], it rounds up to 20MPG actually, not 19MPG). I don’t doubt I could personally get 20+ on the highway (where I put most of my miles on) if I tried. Also, I didn’t even mention the gas, not sure why that’s even in the discussion.
Sorry, but no matter what you try to nit-pick you’re not going to change my opinion that I would like to DD the B8 S4 for the general reasons I listed above, in a few years when it’s cheaper.
You forgot the selected few that spent 15-25k that run 12’s and under 130, who then decide to make their cars dedicated track cars, because they know that they don’t have the ability to build themselves a proper (daily driven, sub 11sec ) car that didn’t need to be lightened to go faster.
I am better than the genius. My car runs low 14sec passes, I think!
I spend $4500 (not including the parts I had already on my car).
and no I have not been to a track since the Tials went in. i ran a 13.5 in my K03 car.
once again you think you have everything figured out about “finding time to go to a track if I can do highway pulls” really? Find me a track that is open at 1am! or find me a track that works around MY schedule, or find me a track (in WA) that is open to the public and when it’s not raining! WA is the green state where is rains here 9 out of the 12 months. Our summer =little rain. our winters= lots of rain…
I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else. I’m happy with my car, it’s running at 100% (less having a clutch I can do any launches with), so in my eyes: PERFECT
If you lived around me and wanted to call me out about running, I wouldn’t say no or make some excuse. I don’t “race” for money or “who tune is better”. I race because I like to see how every car performs and how well I do against it. I don’t have the fastest car out there. Hell I lost to a E55 with stock blower (granted it was making 600 wheel/ 700 torque) and i’m not afraid to say it.

I don’t call people out so stop acting like it’s true unless you and your fast car can prove tHat I call people out.
I don’t want to call you a fool, so I won’t.
