Has anyone ever heard of Endurance Auto Warranty or better yet have experience in dealing with them?
I received a letter from them in the mail, so i reached out to them to get the details and they’re offering:
100K mile coverage or 4 years which ever comes first for ~$5,700. $300 down and $300/month for 18 months.
$100 deductible
What’s covered?
Engine
Transmission
Exhaust system
Fuel system
water pump
they also mentioned some other items i’m not remembering now.
No pre-existing issues are civered.
From what I’m noticing, the extended warranties are hit or miss. I’ve seen one or two people who it really paid off for, but mostly what I’ve seen is that the money is better spent (or rather, saved) so you can cover maintenance items yourself. For example, I was offered a $5,000, 20k mile warranty for my car when I bought it. Nothing happened in that 20k miles that would’ve used the warranty, and the repairs that I did get done about 10k miles after that would probably not have been covered anyways. I don’t regret passing on the warranty offer. The only time I’ve really seen it pay off is when a whole motor needs to be replaced, and the company actually pays for it. I think out of the dozens of S6’s I’ve been following here, I’ve only seen that happen once.
Agreed with what scott said. Its hit or miss. Its hard to really say the aftermarket warrantys are worth it. Not only that but so far there doesn’t seem to be a clear cut good warranty company out there.
Also consider that the warranty will only change certain parts. If you take the money you would spend on the warranty and you do all of the maintenance work yourself you probably would be ahead of the game.
Its a really hard one - most are not cheap, and have high excess’ - I took one out after some alarm bells went off few things went wrong after I had bought the car. In my case I had the manifold replaced through the warranty, it took months - they also had in my case, written into their clause the entire insurance premium is deducted from the claim, so I got about half the $$$ to do the job ( once my remaining premium came out of the job )
Would I be better off not spending the money of insurance and having $$$ aside for “just incase” I think YES, I do not think I will take out another year worth of insurance. My only concern would be large Engine or G box explosion.
Only because I have found that not many shops ACTUALLY understand the S6 - also most issues are smaller than expected but its the fault finding that burns up the $$$ and time. The Key to owning one of these is knowing what is coming up next, getting parts ahead of schedule and actual preventive maint, if possible. Also dont be afraid to do as much as you can at home, get your hands dirty.
