Air filter box screws

Hi Guys, so finally received my new filters today, so happy went outside to fit them and found all the screws (7 of them one is missing) all rounded off.

Nothing is ever straight forward.

I’m wondering does anyone know what screws I need as once I manage to get these ones out I’m going to need to replace them all.

Also any tips getting these out would be much appreciated as my current plan is a hammer :hammer:

Puzzled…. If your RS4 is at all similar to the RS5, the two air filter boxes use Torx T20 screws. Did someone round them out using an Alen key bit or something else. Had both my air filters out today to inspect, and the screws on mine were in great condition.

Perfect thankyou yes they are torx screws I had no idea of size but T20 sounds right.

No idea how they have done it to be honest, they must have had a good go though as one of the screws is missing.

I’m going to have another go at lunch as I was losing daylight last night.

It’s was one of those things I thought 10min job change filters over but nope as always it’s a battle haha

Not cars fault though stupid inpatient people basically argh

Does anyone know where I can get new screws for the airboxs

Try a nut and bolt shop. Take one with you, see if they can match it. If not go on the ecs website. I know they’re from America, I’m from Australia and still shop from them as we have nothing here

Yes that’s my plan,
Update with patience and precision  I got the bolts out, old filters was well past due date let’s say. New filters in and must say the difference now is pretty immense. I wasn’t expecting any difference but it sounds so much more aggressive now.

The old filters must have been really restricting me

Also to confirm, RS4 B8 is T20 torx like the RS5
Still to find parts not the same except the ass :joy:

Audi in their Wisdom, doesn’t list those screws separate in the parts diagram. I guess they want you to spend a whole lot of money on a complete assembly to get the screws.

Yes I’m thinking “screw” Audi (see what I did there😜)
I’m thinking just getting same size screws from screw fix. I mean why are they torx screws anyway surely a normal screw of the same size would work right

Yes as long as they are the same thread and length you can put in any screw/ bolts no reason why not.
If you do this then make sure you put a washer on each screw/ bolt and get them in black as they will stick our in silver ! :+1:
