I am in the process of tuning my 2008 RS4. Does anyone know what the maximum capacity of the intake airflow sensor is? At what point could one get a “false” reading, giving the ECU bad info = crap tune.
Like self tuning? Interesting.
I am weighing my options in regards to the tune I need. One of the topics in our discussion was the capacity of the intake airflow sensor? Could this be a major challange if one dramtically increases the air intake, throwing off the values given to the ECU?
Is this question in regards to a ram intake setup? I’d bet that the RS4 MAF flow limit is much higher than you could reach on an NA setup
euroswagr, agreed. However, I am using foced induction through a Rotrex S/C and we are getting readings with substantial increases of airflow.
Lets hear more about this first
Nice…I didn’t want to assume. I’m also very interested in you plans and progress.
Rotrex website states,
B7 RS4 application Stock 420hp…rotrex kit 620hp…really?
Sure why not. If you can pick up 160 whp I don’t think it would be absurd to call that 200 crank. Of course that’s if you’re into the dyno. The compressor map that Rotrex provides would justify this as well for the record.
P.S. This seems like a tts kit…just without the MRC tune connection. Or is it a while new stand alone kit?
Eveyone on our team feels we can get more out of the Rotrex charge with a more agressive tune(Rotrex stats are conservative). One of the big topics we have is the capacity of the intake airflow sensor? Upon removing he secondary air injection system we need to make sure we have very accurate numbers for the ECU to work with.
Thanks for the info, it was an honest “really” not sarcasm
all depends on the blower…but the bigger ones are almost as powerful as the Vortech that JHM uses.
I’d put my money on JHM’s tuning though
Well we know it can’t handle a leaf blower straight into the sensor ;D Justinincredible can be thanked for that test I believe.

That is actually very funny!
Sakimano, I would be thrilled to live within driving distance of JHM for a Tune. I’m 2,000 miles out of the way… The blower is C38-91.
I think TTS used the C38 81
I’ll check.
edit: C38-91
from the ‘how far can the RS4 motor be pushed’ thread…

[quote=sakimano]TTS Rotrex C38-91 centrifugal supercharger kit - made 610 crank hp on the MRC dyno. Made 485 whp on another dyno in the UK on an S5. Not sure if we’ve seen anything else. This is about as far as we’ve seen the RS4 pushed so far. Looks like about 500 whp is pretty comfortable, as TTS have these kits on about a dozen cars so far. Maybe they can chime in? Have they dyno’d a race file?

I wouldn’t mind having 500 WHP, it’s just the price tag to get there that I have a hard time swallowing.
Those TTS guys seem to be on their A-Game with all this tuning.
I mean this seriously. If you do’t know the answer to something like that do you really think you should be turning the car…
I’m not trying to be mean either, but I kind of have to agree. If you’re wondering, I assume (I hope) that you are not personally doing the tuning. You should ask your tuner why they do not know more about MAFS, as they are very common.
You could go 100% speed-density, or even alpha-N, but I doubt any of that is necessary at all. Not sure what the factory Motronic allows, but I would guess it’s less customizable than their motorsport offerings. Not that their motorsport programming software is all that user-friendly to begin with . . .
SquiddyB6S4: You are dead on, of course I am not doing the tune on my own. I work in a completely different field. I am just the general contractor for my RS4 build. One of the tuners I am considering working with raised a valid concern, how accurate are the airflow readings when we introduce F/I? When one pushes any sensor towards its’ limit, how accurate are the readings? After we studied the TTS kit a bit more carefully, we feel MRC (UK) might have left something on the table? I am located in South Florida and my local tuning options are limited. Therefore, I reached out to a couple of forums to see what would come out of it?
For example, I was recomended “Crispeed” (USP Motorsport). Here is a video of one of their cars:

I am not looking to drag race, my car is a daily driver. I am seeking to maximize the potential of the TTS kit. I am reaching out for unbiased advice from different sources.
sounds good. keep us informed. Kit is fantastic.
