All Season Tires

Hey so I’m new to this forum but been around on others for quite awhile. So my question is I’m looking at getting some new tires and want to go with some good all around all season tires. Currently looking at the Conti DWS and the toyo proxes 4’s. Anyone have experience with either of these or any other recommendations? Thanks in advance.

where do you live? Personally I live in Toronto so we (usually) get snow and sub-freezing temps so it’s a non-starter - I’m getting snows/winters. In the summer, I definitely want full performance out of my car, so I have summer/performance tires on it. I have two sets of wheels, and just swap them back and forth every year (x2).

Further, if I lived in California, I couldn’t imagine getting all season tires on my performance car. I’d definitely have summers year round.

If you’re somewhere in the middle of those two and are looking to get away with just getting all seasons, I’d suggest you re-consider. You can buy a used set of OEM wheels for about $500…then get some snows mounted up ( I bought used ones for $500 with about 2-3 seasons left in them)…have them mounted and you’re at $1000. After you sell the car, you’ll still get around 400-500 for those wheels, so the cost for say 3 years is about $500 to have dedicated, proper winters. My insurance company gives me a 5% discount for running proper winters tires. That’s a $100/year…so $300 over the 3 years in the example. No brainer dude. Also if your insurance company, someone who has actuarially determined the risks of different tire setups, is offering you a discount to run winters, guess what. They are BETTER.

You’ll also run for your keys if you wake up to 6 inches of snow as opposed to saying ‘oh…better be careful and wait for the plows’ if you had just all seasons.

So do it right is my advice. Don’t mess around.

I live in southern California however during the winter I take frequent snowboarding trips and will be picking up a second set of wheels most likely in the next couple of months in which to run my summer tires. I want a good all around all season tire that will see a lil snow and a lil rain but mostly will give me peace of mind when I head up to the mountains.
also prob wont be looking to sell the car for quite some time. Here she is…

Welcome and Great looking car.

fantastic looking car right there.

id definitely go with the DWS over the proxes 4. the conti’s are just an outstanding all season. a bit soft in the sidewall department but you guys dont have the craters we do out here so you should be fine. ive sold quite a few sets and people love them. excellent in the snow for a performance oriented all season

Decided to pull the trigger on the DWS’s. Will be on the car in a few days

I feel bad for you rough road/snow guys, I’m trying to figure out what extreme performance summer tires I’m going to buy here pretty soon.

Im just finishing 11k miles on BFG KDW G-forces and absolutely loved them for summer tires. Will be putting them on the second set of wheels when I pick them up for summer driving

I’m in Cali (bay area) and also do the snowboarding thing in the winter. I have the DWS now and love them. Don’t have any real insite on the 4’s though. Oh, but sometimes they’re a pain in the ass to get, had a blowout and needed one, terrible experience, had to ship from LA.
