Am I crazy?

So, I really hate when these threads pop up on AZ but oh well here goes, please be nice… ;D

I’m trying to sell my B6 S4. But all I keep keeping are low-ball offers, or at least they seem low-ball to me.

I’m hoping that the members here can give me some honest insight into my pricing and let me know if I’m out of my mind. If the car is really only worth $12-13k, then that’s where I will have to sell it. But to me, after all the blood, sweat and tears I’ve put into it, plus huge piles of cash, I really think it’s already priced low. Maybe it’s just because I know what I know about these cars. But I figure if 04-05 S4s with 60-100k miles and no timing repair done, are selling for 13-14, mine must be worth more since it’s all sorted out, and the timing repair is done. Not to mention the aftermarket parts.

Here’s the ad on AZ:

I hate hate hate that I have to sell the car in general… and selling it for $13k, well I really wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

Appreciate any input you can offer.

unfortunately aftermarket parts and preventative maintenance don’t exactly add much to the value of a car.

most people don’t know these cars inside out…so they won’t understand the complexity of a timing job, or recognize the value of it in their purchase offer.

It’s a hard car to sell if you don’t have the right buyer. Most people have no clue, they more than likely accidentally buy an S4 and not an A4. Over a year ago I couldn’t get any offers with my 2006 sitting at $20k with 69k miles. I ended up selling to a guy with cash in hand for $17k. I just needed to move on and with the money right there it was a no brainer.

People don’t car or understand our timing chain cost/problems, the only people that do are on the forums. Trying posting it on A4 specific forums or local car forums.

…and the longer you hold onto it the more the price will drop.

How long has it been for sale?

I think you should be able to get $15k. It may take you some time to find the right buyer like the other guys mentioned.

I de-modded my car when I traded it in to recoup a little bit of money. Sold exhaust and intake. Tune and pulley stayed with the car. I think I might still have the podi boost gauge lol.

I have wondered how difficult it would be to sell a car with the JHM tune, since the throttle is so drastically different. Nobody on earth that hasn’t driven one would be smooth right off the bat, so the initial test drive would be a nightmare.

I think the throttle thing is just a hard thing to get used to if you drive your S4 stock and then go to a JHM tune. Anything with a cable throttle body will feel just like a JHM tuned car, in fact even more responsive.

I sold my S4 with 104k with the tune, and all brand new suspension, no leaks, all new fluids, new brakes, refinished stock wheels, etc. for 11k. My car was VERY clean compared to most of the cars out there and I could not get more for mine than what any other S4 with the same miles goes for. People really don’t care about maintenance and mods. My car was also DG, alcantara, MT6, so same car pretty much. 13k would be making out like a bandit.

Also remember that a JHM exhaust is pretty loud, you will turn away a lot of people with that exhaust. The guy who bought mine was a mid 30 year old banker with kids. Non-stock exhaust would have probably been a turn off for him.

I personally think someone who never owned a stock tuned S4 would have a better chance at driving it perfect right of the bat. I really don’t get what the big deal is, does it feel different? Yes but if you have an ounce of throttle and clutch control the tune actually makes things better. The JHM tune only makes it obvious who can drive a manual transmission car and who can’t. If my wife can drive a near full bolt on S4 flawlessly, then people who can’t should be embarrassed and buy a TIP.

Y’all extremely to have that wife!!!

Agree my wife drives my stick well too :stuck_out_tongue:
