So I recently had my front drivers side axle replaced on my b6 s4 because I blew it and I had a shop change it for me. So today I was like let me check out my Launch Control that came with my jhm tune!!!. . . Same axle broke! WTF!! How weak are these axles on these cars? Is anyone making any stronger axles out there?? THANKS GUYS!!!
Tons and tons of launches and I haven’t broken one yet. Pretty much the same mods as you power-wise. What size are your tires and how heavy are the wheels
I have the 19inch OZ racing superlaggaras with spacers. I was thinking mybe the spacers had something to do??
same here…20+ launches at the strip and no problems here…60k on my axles
honestly the LWFW could have a lot to do with it…
what kind of pavement did you launch it on? uneven pavement will cause axle hop and in my experience that will take out the axle.
and what part of the axle failed?
Do you know what kind of axle your shop installed? OEM, A/M, or reconditioned? 72k, plenty of launches and I’ve never broken one, knock on wood. It’s possible they could warranty it, depending on where it broke.
Most parts (even aftermarket) are warrantied for a year so I would call up the shop that installed the axle and talk to them about it.
I blew the front right inner CV joint to pieces on the launch of my first pass at the drag strip once. The fluid had leaked out past the clamp and boot plus a hard start and it was gone.
Flat pavement and it looks like the rubber boot that connects to the tire fell off looks like a clean flat cut.
I told them to go for an OEM axle from Audi and that what I paid for! but my Mechanic in NJ told me that they must have put a cheap after market one. I wish I could have taken it to my mechanic out in NJ but the towing cost would have killed me!! Im seriously thinking about AAA.
This is the second axle on the same side that has broken. . . I was so excited because I just got my JHM tune and Custom dps and I was trying the Launch Control.
so the entire cv joint broke loose from the shaft? thats interesting
You say you told the shop to get an oem axle, how much did they bill you for the part?
I thought I remembered the price for an OEM one being something like $400+.
When I was trying to get one for my old TIP S4, the price was even more absurd
Wow, the usually snap at the shaft from what I have seen.

They told me that they didnt put a brand new axle because it was 600$!! so they just got me a rebuilt one from audi. . . I didnt know Audi rebuilt axles LMAOOOO!!! I told them do I look stupid?? Anyway their is a few more issues that we discovered with my car. . . like upper control arms, wheel hubs, passenger axle! JHMotorsports.com is going to have a nice little order from me

Audi actually does make remanufactured axles… New axles list for $600, reman’s $460. They should warranty the one you just broke, however all those issues you just found probably has something to do with both axles breaking.
