Another Injector Thread / Question

Alright here we go. I just talked to my buddy who runs parts at audi dealer and used to own a C6 V10 also. He said the injectors FAIL and must be replaced, they fail un-related to carbon. Is this true?

I have almost everything ready to re-do my engine:

  1. Walnut blaster
  2. Walnut shells (fine grit)
  3. New IM
  4. On the way JHM spacers, SAI DEL, heater bypass, etc
  5. Have yet to purchase - O-Ring kit for injectors

I was planning to ship the injectors out to be ultra-sonic cleaned and flow tested. Now I am stressed that I need to buy new injectors.

What did you guys do?

IMO $1,700 for injectors doesnt make sense. Checking my repair history I see they purchased 06E998907 meaning the injectors are original when the put in the new engine 07l100031ax, I assume the old one blew up because of a failed injector (s)!!! :-[

I was getting some flashing CEL occasionally, usually the codes were for misfires on 8 and 4, sometimes 7 and 2, random, go away when warm. Also got some codes once while driving “hot engine” for P0171, P0174, P0175 “system too lean” bank 1 and 2. I assumed these all to be Carbon / IM related. I think some air may be sneaking into the IM through the broken IM flap hole…

Send them out for cleaning, if you have any bad ones, I had one, they will tell you. Most shops also provide new seals and orings

I like cleaning. It helps do two things. It helps you know the health of the injectors and tells you what is going on in the motor. Also people see injectors that are the same kind of injector but is not the actual audi injector. The buy these cheaper injectors and those just end up being as bad or worse than the high mileage injectors
