Another newbie to the forum

That’s the best thing about driving in Europe though, it’s just sort of expected that everyone drives super fast on the freeway. It’s no problem, you just stick to the right lane and watch them go, or try to keep up and let them clear the way.

At one point on the way from Milano to Monaco, some bloke was test driving the (back then) new GTR. F**king flew past! We would’ve been cruising at 180kph - they have speed limits now in Italy thanks to the EU - but we could’ve been walking he was going that fast!

On the way back from Cinque Terra on another trip, an RS6 from Munich passed me, tried to keep up, no chance, even in traffic. The wife was also not used to the european way of driving (she’s from LA).

We also saw a couple of times the Italian Police Lamborghini Gallardo! It was “posing” in a roundabout near the freeway in Como, then we saw it about 10mins later while we were in traffic going up the emergency lane.

Monaco is the best place for car watching though. The money, the posing, the cars! Saw Mr Pagani a few years back in his own Zonda tooling around, totally carbon fibre, no paint. Beautiful!

Saw it as well, but it was actually doing its job. Had someone pulled over in the opposite direction. They ended up totalling it though

My sister used to live in Monaco and I lived 10 minutes outside Monaco. The only time I ever got quads in stud poker at the casino

C’mon Axel why are you hiding this from us? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPzn2dtuLbI&context=C3059727ADOEgsToPDskKc1O-oegpBD73pK_Me5aMM

You can hear the surge off boost through 1st and 2nd gear in that video. Sounds awesome.

On topic post: Yeah I have enver driven anywhere exciting. Hopefully going to drive the tail of the dragon at SOWO this year

Monaco is one place I definitely would love to live! Very jealous! There and Montalcino!

The sound of the Corsa exhaust through the tunnels in Monaco, particularly the GP tunnel, was nucking futs! Lots of heads snapping. Wife was loving the attention, as all well-bred LA girls do.

The Italians are so cool though. Always getting thumbs up and loving the sound of the catback (no tune or DPs back then). Always blatant disregard for the law and speed limits, but always aware they need to get out of the way of faster cars.

I never posted the video here? Oops, sorry lol. I thought I had.

so you can go 35 mph? Awesome…?

30mph lol

SPEED LIMITS:
Prior to 1992 the speed limit in both Tennessee and North Carolina was 55 mph. In 1993 the speed limit on the Tennessee side was lowered to 40 mph. In 2002 the speed limit was lowered to 30 mph, which is still in effect today. The North Carolina portion of the Dragon was lowered to 30 mph in early 2005…

North Americans…pfftt

And hopefully you won’t run into any trucks: http://tailofthedragon.com/dragon_trucks.html

Axel- I’ve seen that vid posted here somewhere. Or on AZ. A beauty.

yeah Axle did post it here, joe is just slow and missed it lol

Joe, let me know if you’re going to SOWO, I’ve got several friends going. We’ve got 2 rooms booked, but we might have already filled them up. If you are going, the hotels fill up FAST.

And Saki, you mock, but the Tail is pretty impressive. They also don’t do much enforcing of the speed limit in several a lot of the sections, the road itself if the best enforcement. I think they’ve just dropped it to keep people from winding up to bigger speed numbers in the straight aways and to have more authority when they do need to pull someone over who’s driving irresponsibly (i.e. 20 over instead of 10 over).

I haven’t

whose phantom black pearl rs4 was that?

Yea, that was posted up on AZ a while ago I think. Good vid though, always fun to see cars ripping through the gears!

His account name here is ephc

is the car stock?
have him post up some pics of his car in the rs4 pic thread!

Only met him once when I sold him a Magnaflow cb. I guess you could always PM him. IIRC, it was stock at the time.

Just uploaded another Driving in Italy video. In this one, I’m a passenger filming the world’s shortest toll section. Less than 400 feet…

Can anybody see this vid? Just testing it out

No, the video is “set to private”

ok, thanks fixed.

The thing I miss most from living there are the roads. I only wish I could have had my S4 there.
Even with crap cars though I usually make my passengers sick from driving on them so fast:

And some roads are damn narrow too (this was a two way road):

This road (the D908 in the Alps, Col d’Allos) was a lot of fun:
