I am having an issue with the oil level warning on my B6 S4. The mininmum oil warning comes on intermittently. At first I thought it was the sensor, but I replaced with a new one and am still having the same issue (also tried a known working one from a friend’s car). The oil level is fine on the dipstick so I am pretty sure that I have a short in the wiring harness somewhere. It will be a while before I mess with the harness so I was wondering if there is a way through VAG COM to shut off the warning…?
I just read about 50pages on what you can do with vag com and this seems to be one of the things that can’t be done. Its in the body control modual and I would figgure something that the company deffinitly wants people to not be able to fiddle with.
Sorry I did look.
on the side note. I wonder why the warning keeps going off. If you have a vcds check and see when the fault is logged. I found that with the VCDS the code will come with all ikinds of info. Like RPM mileage of the car and actual speed.
anyone know the output when the level is fine? Maybe a resistor or some splicing on the harness could do it for you if someone can measure a voltage
@My S5(afe) Hyden - Thanks. I did a search through a bunch of sites/docs hoping that I missed something, but I guess I am SOL. I have checked VCDS, but there is no correlation that I can draw in regards to why it is occuring other than the wire harness it moving. In regards to how it happened, I am pretty sure it is the result of a motor pull from 2010. During the work the plug got caught up and yanked pretty good. It seemed fine after everything was put back together, but now I think it’s done. I was under the car a few weeks ago inspecting the plug (was getting a bad sensor warning at the time) and the connectors were all messed up. I corrected as best I could, but still having issues.
@beemercer - I have a doc somewhere with the info. I will have to find it. I guess I cannot be lazy anymore and need to mess with the harness.
SpeedETC let me know if you need help. I have the Bentley manual I think the wire diagram is in there.
