Bonnar went a little heavy on the spray tan lol
He certainly did. There are a bunch of us who get together to watch the fights and everyone of us was scratching our heads when we saw his Jersey Shore skills.
I can’t stand bonnar.
He looks goofy and weak. I thought he would be out of the Ufc three years ago, but they keep him around. Feels like his last five fights he is 1-4, which would bounce anyone but because he had the epic Forrest Griffin fight they keep him on. That fight was basically two sloppy unskilled guys slogging it out. Their records against good fighters bear this out.
But people love him for some reason. I imagine you guys are about to call me crazy.
The only reason imo people respect Bonner is because of the forst Forrest fight. The two of them basically introduced MMA to the mainstream. Very few people back then realized they were two unskilled fighters having a slug fest. It was more exciting than watching boxing and it was bloody.
I can’t stand Andersen but I have to respect his skill set. That being said, I haven’t a clue why (other than potential PPV viewers/money) why Dana or anyone would think Bonner had a chance against Silva.
Unless they find someone who is athletic (not “stiff”), well rounded in all arts, brutally accurate with strikes and emotionally ready to get in the cage with a fighter like Silva he will remain at the top of the food chain. He’s got a granite chin, he’s athletic, he’s crazy accurate with strikes and he’s very elusive when he wants to be, ie; hard to hit. I think the only fight that would be a risk for him would be Jones. I still wouldn’t discount Silva in that fight though, he has a shit ton more experience.
they don’t think bonnar/boner has a chance against Silva. That was basically a re-introduction to light-heavyweight for Silva to crush a loser, then to crush a contender, then to fight Jon Jones
Basically Dana White wants to do anything in his power to see Jon Jones lose, and Silva is a great way to do so, and a great storyline at the same time.
Silva will win the title, then retire. White will then do everything in his power to make Jones wait his ass off for another shot at it.
The beauty of power…you can really fuck with people against whom you seek revenge.
Why??
The only reason I can see someone not liking him is because of how lately he’s been outwardly displaying disdain while fighting. (see Okami and Bonnar) And yeah that’s disrespectful.
I can’t help but suspect, and correct me if I’m wrong please - that your negative opinion him stems back from the Leites and Maia fights. Yes they were brutal and a waste of a PPV buy however it wasn’t Anderson’s fault. Maia and Leites were chumps. Remember Leites continually falling onto his back trying to pull guard…only he wasn’t holding Anderson? CHUMP!
I can see people hating Anderson Silva for his weird b.s. he did a few years back where he basically wouldn’t engage anyone, not to mention all the shenanigans.
I also can see people hating him for turning his back on the guys from chute boxe, and then trash talking them. As a fighter though, I really enjoy watching his fights.
Lots of people hate Jamie Oliver too. Just the way it is sometimes.
It’s a culmination of many things. Lately, I actually have a tiny bit less of a problem with him because he took the high road after the Sonnen fight and actually stated a couple of things that were good for the sport. Explaining they are professionals, have a responsibility to act like a pro athlete in public, in interviews etc. That actually made me like him a bit more.
To answer your question in a little more detail, it came down to two primary areas: His cage manners and fight shenanigans. Same reason I can’t wait for someone to knock the fucking heads off the Diaz brothers. What a bunch of showboating assholes. Do I respect their stand up and ground skills? Absolutely. Do I think they are total D-Bags? Absolutely.
To be a pro athlete in this media driven world you have to have class if you want my respect.
lol they are from Dan@JHM’s hometown (the Diaz brothers)
Ask him about them.
ok I will next time I have him on the line.

I’m anxious to see Nate’s bout against Henderson.
missed it but thanks for the video link that was hilarious. classic SIlva
What the fuck is Joe Rogan smoking?
“it was a knee to the body, a perfect knee to the solar plexus”
Dude he kneed his jaw into next month.
nah, it was his solar plexus. You have to watch the replay from the other angle in a different vid. I’ll dig up the one on MMATKO.com. It looked like his jaw because Bonnar snapped his head back a bit after getting hit. Maybe he knee glided up a bit further but the impact was definitely the solar plexus.
i still say no chance
your celiac plexus is just above your belly button.
Really hard to tell from that angle but looks in the “solar plexus” area with some fractured ribs. The head snap back looks like it was due to the force of the blow and in reaction to all the sudden pain that just came over him!
I should watch it on something bigger than my phone first before being so sure lol
(although I do have the largest screen on any phone in the world)
The solar plexus is right below your chest plate and above your diaghram. The video on mmatko was not working last night when I tried. I’ll look again and try again. You’ll see the slow motion hit.
