It usually happens when I’m backing out of the garage, turning the wheel under partial braking. Recently, I’ve heard it while driving around the neighborhood. I don’t think it happens under normal-speed driving. thoughts?
going over a bump? Control arms would be my first guess
This just started happening to mine. Took it in, they repaired the sway bar connectors. It’s still happening, I’m also convinced it’s the control arms.
Most likely it is the front upper control arms.
This,
There was also a tsb to use sufferer freeze and bushing that connect upper control arms. Once resolved and grease applied no issues. This was common for first time owners. Or people that haven’t resolved.
We checked the control arms in Dec when we took the engine out-- all the bushings looked great. I had them replaced in DC 2 years ago. I don’t really notice it when i’m driving at high speeds.
Is there a link to this TSB? I want to show my mechanic
It’s been awhile, after seeing the tsb I lived for awhile. After. Did new control arms, correct bushings and greased all appropriately noise went down considerably and for the most part was gone. If you go lock for lock and it’s freezing outside before warmed up you could still hear the clunk but nothing to worry over.
What parts have you tried to refresh to remedy this? This was like 3.5 or more years back when I resolved.
I’ve only replaced the bushings at the dealer. Otherwise just confirmed the control arms by visual inspection. And now that it’s warm again, I suppose I can check to see if the problem is related to the cold.
Most likely irrelevant… But size of tires and what wheels?
I had 18" winter wheels on, but I just switched back to the 19" OEMs. Still the same.
