Thanks for the detailed review. For what purpose did Audi program the DSG so conservatively? Were they trying to make the tranny last 250k miles? Has anyone had a DSG rebuilt yet, or do we know about high mileage S4 DSG cars?
I have a 2010 as well, and was experiencing the same LC issues as you.
Yesterday I realized the following. When stopped, by pushing the breaks very hard, the transmission seams to act differently. As if the front end rises slightly before launching (due to the tranny grabbing and preparing for the launch).
Have you tried pressing the breaks super hard?
The first day I got the DSG tune and tried testing the LC. I was not pressing the break very hard and was only able to launch at the max RPM. When I don’t press the break hard enough, my car feels like its just revving in neutral, but press hard changes things.
Try this and let me know what you feel, as I was only testing briefly with a bitchy, PMSy, anti-race’y girlfriend in the car.
I will try and do more testing tonight ( without my girlfriend )
this was pretty funny…someone may want to show him PT’s video and the timeslips of his 2.0 60’ times
[quote=Sean@APR re: Launch Control in APR TCU Tune]We had a 2010 test car and it worked quite well. We’ve also got a beta customer with a 2010 car.

AK, tried hard pressure, medium, light, etc. I couldn’t get it to work… Me? Car? Tune? Looking forward to seeing what you can do with more tries… I’d try but no more lc…
New flash just went on and I’m back to my primetime launches ;D. Tried 3 and all worked but had a tiny wheel spin on 2 of them as I’m on street pressure, public roads, and tires weren’t exactly warm… 3rd one dead hooked, nailed the 1-2 and 2-3… Strip wed.!!!
I will likely go both days because I haven’t had a weekend with friday off in a while. I’ll text you though and we can plan… For gas I’m using your special method haha. 14 gallons 100 at the speedway then topping off with e85 at BP! Let me know if you’ve changed anything up with this blend. Seemed to pull nice and hard with very little timing pulled last time I did some logging on the street. I’ll see if Mike is up to joining us also.
Good stuff guys, I’ll try and make it Sat, but being a holiday weekend…not really sure. Also, isn’t Sat a busy day at Milan? With bracket racing etc? I probably won’t run the car, will wait till I get the new APR tune. Not sure about Friday either, but text me if you indeed end up going.
You should definitely get the tune before going, especially if Jeff is gonna go. Stephen is out of the country, but said his coworker Jordan should be able to do it. I would post up your VCDS scan info like I did and confirm with Arin that they have a build for your car. Also, ping Ron before you get flashed to see what LC settings are best. As he mentioned, there might be a few hiccups on the 2010, so best to get his latest advice.
Ron - hopefully you’re able to go tonight? Conditions are pretty prime (sorry for the pun). On a side note, how crazy is it that the weather always seems to be shit on the weekends, but then dip significantly midweek. I’m not a religious person, but clearly someone up there is an APR fan lol

Leaving the office shortly for home, quick prep of the car and off to the strip I go… I’ll update later good or bad…
So… The good news… Car is 60 footing again like it should… Cut a best of 1.67… Car is still trapping 119+ on 3 of 4 with a high of 119.92 and low of 118.96… The bad news… Not a single clean pass shifting wise… Car hangs up slightly on most shifts and then is very lazy after shifting… I’ve uploaded one gopro and outside vid… Can get the others up later, dinners almost ready… lol Sent them to APR and already chatting so will see what they say… DA was around 800…
