APR ECU/TCU tune review…

Muneeb, Haven’t been to the strip to test lately, so I can’t say it’s 100% yet, I think it will take another revision or two… I don’t think LC will ever work and I’m ok with that as I can launch decently w/o it… The two issues that may not be 100% resolved are the shift point for the individual gears to make sure it doesn’t hang up and getting the car to go into AMAX mode everytime when drag racing… Again, I’m confident APR will get it resolved we’ve just kind of tabeled it given the rain and heat of summer… Plan to get back at it real soon…

The fellow on vendorzine is going for an “update”… I told him to have LC removed but I don’t think he will… Not quite sure he believes what I’m telling him or he thinks his car is different? I’m going to PM him again but it’s his car so he can do what he want, I’m just trying to help… He isn’t getting AMAX all the time and he has hang ups…

I see, thanks for the update. I could do without LC myself, your mash and go method works great for me so I’ll see if I can get a file without it. Well sounds like things aren’t far off so that’s good.

I know who you’re referring to, I’m talking with him over PM. I think he was hesitant to listen to you because he didn’t know your history with the platform. I’m talking with him over PM to to get him on here as well.

Side note, I Pm’d Arin about something I wanted to try on my car and he mentioned they beat Jones record by quite a bit in 4000FT DA… You may already know but I’m excited to see the details! Hopefully one of us apr b8 guys can do even better this fall.

You can get a file w/o LC just specify, I’d make sure the dealer knows up front as I’m not sure the dealer network are all aware? That way you’re not wasting time… No, things shouldn’t be far off and who knows it may be choice already but I can’t comfortably run the car to the top of 4th into 5th on the street thus I want to visit the strip to make sure…

Yeah, he seems like a good guy and I’m just trying to help him so no worries… He has a 3 hour drive each way to the dealer so I’d hate to see him make it again but I think he wants to try LC again… His car and his call…

Yeah, I’m aware of APR’s strip visit… Keep in mind that is with the new blower not the stock one… I’m very confident I’ll beat their time as will many others up in the MW/East/Canada if they go with the stage III upgrade…

That’s the plan… Honestly, little bummed with APR on how this has played out… I was asked years ago to be the DSG test car, even offered to ship my car to them at my cost, and obviously things changed with the whole re-org but then they choose to use this clown in Cali who posted pics and impressions with no data along with Eurotrash and their posts… Since then crickets from him, Eurotrash and APR… Obviously, that’s their decision and it is what it is but still bums me out… Anyway, assuming the price isn’t totally a joke I’m in the day it comes out or sooner if possible…

Finally, hit 2,500 miles in the TTRS so bought some mods for it… Something to keep me busy… lol… Going to go stage II and then maybe check out the 034 turbo upgrade…

Haha wow, that’s not a lot of mileage. After getting blown out of the water by a really quick TTS at my last track event, I must say I’m really impressed with the TT platform. Supposedly 034 will be racing their TTRS in the continental or pirelli series…

Yeah, that’s why I asked. Seemed odd that they had a dedicated customer willing help them out (that they know will handle the whole situation with some level of class), and ended up using the guy in Cali that couldn’t contain himself. Surely, they regret that whole mess…

Whoa, take it easy on the TT-RS!!! I got a chance to check out a stage 2 TT-RS this past weekend for the first time (our local Audi Club president has one…), and it’s a beast. The new RS500 kit from 034 seems like a really good midrange option if you go that route.

A local DFW shop (Istook/RS Werkes) ran that TT-RS in the Pirelli series off and on for a couple of years, but had a hard time being successful. They had already done a ton of work to the car, and I think 034 is hoping that they can bump the power output and be more competitive. The suspension and chassis were both pretty well sorted, and Istook is usually regarded as a good driver/team. It will be interesting to see if 034/Compass can be more successful.

The 034 car had the quattro removed and was a pure, 600 HP FWD.

Saki, that’s hard to define w/o knowing all the details on parts and results… Remember I already have CPS and stage II tun, so if we’re just talking blower, blower and fp, etc.

Mike, Yeah, I average about 1K a year mileage wise… I’m not a road race guy but I drive pretty spirited and the TTRS handles way better than the S4, it’s just a smaller/lighter more nimble car and the magnetic suspension goes along way… Honestly, the stock brakes on it seem better than the 380MM Brembo kit I have on the S4… Power wise there is little lag and the shifting is very smooth…

Josh, Not sure why they went with him? Stock car maybe? EC relationship? Don’t think I did anything “wrong” on my end to piss them off? It is what it is, I’ve moved on and only brought it up in frustration as I’d like to be beating the shit out of it now… Wed. is supposed to be very cool for this time of the year… With me only driving this car 6 months of the year getting it in Nov. won’t make me happy…

LOL! Yeah, I need to drive the RS more… I ordered the 034 intake and have my eye on the turbo kit… clutch worries me so I’d want to do that at the same time… Going to get a bigger front mount and probably 034 dp… APR has program switching so I’ll test that with the 104 tune and hard launch… Should be good for mid 11’s if the clutch holds… lol

^^ if they were smart, they’d have shipped the blower to you on day one. Everyone knows that - the fact that they didn’t makes me continue to question their business judgment as of late.

Honestly, I think the reason is solely due to AR. This forum, and this forum alone, exposed their shenanigans. They hate this site and even went so far as to hit us with a cyber attack. Still pisses me off.

That said, I cannot wait until you finally get the kit and reclaim the B8 record.

Instead of removing the LC from the APR TCU tune in the 2010’s, why don’t you just put it in D and go down the dragstrip like that. LC only works in S mode, and the shift points are the same in D or in S mode under WOT.

Ryan, I tried that and it doesn’t work… The car won’t launch, it gets wonky at the LC rpm setting or does a slow roll off the line… I tired just about everything at the strip/street and couldn’t get it to launch correctly with or w/o lc. Personally, I’d rather not deal with it so I’m sticking with the tune not having it unless APR has really fixed it… Did you ever end up getting the tune? How is your car launching?
