APR ECU/TCU tune review…

So my S4 had 10 more horsepower than a new M3 and only 40 ft/lb less torque.

I think the intake manifold is busted. It was shooting a lot of white smoke. Looks like a lemon to me.

You went on to yap about the m3 making 100 wtq more (minimum) than the S4. I told you that you were off your frigging rocker as the S4 makes loads of torque and that the difference wouldn’t be anywhere near that. I then proposed a bet. Your car vs whatever your car is worth. You lost.

I was being conservative because I didn’t want to overpromise what my car would do or underestimate what the BMW could do. I don’t think you can say I “lost” when the outcome is that I did exactly what I said I was going to do: build an S4 that has the same weight and power as an F80 M3.

Sure… Car runs great, pulls very hard, and is a hoot to drive in manual mode… Still need some fine tuning of the TCU, ECU tune is great. Won’t be adding LC instead sticking with launching via my method. Occasional hangups like I’ve shown in previous vids when launching in “D” and going through the gears, IE drag racing. Doesn’t happen in manual mode at all… Also, AMAX mode doesn’t activate everytime when drag racing which I’d like… Haven’t hit the track as we’ve literally had rain the last 3-4 weeks nearly daily and the few nice days the track was open I was busy or there was an event. APR has/had a 2010 car in house recently… Still planning on some additional testing/fine tuning but I’m in no hurry and I’ve made that clear with them. Hopefully, testing some other things(software & hardware) in the near future, still confident in our bet :stuck_out_tongue:

I think we had like 7-8 inches in June, lots of flooding locally… Finally, a nice weekend for the holiday… Drove the S4 and RS today already…

Oh I am just not going to happen this time of year so that’s why I’m in no hurry… Yeah, it’s his modlist/car so I’ll let him share when ready, I think he may be selling the car as he posted a feeler on vendorzine… I got dibs on a few things if he parts out the car, no not the headers! lol Don’t think he’ll get close to what he’s asking so parting out would be the route I’d go…

I don’t think it’s even the top 3 of S5s.

It’s easy to forget that guys have had these cars for 3-4 years and are ready for something new. Turnover is inevitable.

RYnurz PMd me asking why jeff and auditude/tsivas weren’t on our list. I didn;t realise auditude’s lates run wasn’t so I will add that/ I think I pmd him and tsivas for the info ages ago, so if I forgot to add it that sucks. As you guys know, I don’t give a fuck if APR, GIAC or bill’s tuning are first, so it’s nothing to do with that. I just noticed there are a few more APR and other guy times to add too, so I will do that Wednesday night. I also noticed people talking about how shit that format Arin uses is. It’s true. It’s fucking hideous. Our list is amazing, and sortable, and searchable. Refer people to it if they want something worthwhile.

However Jeff still hasn’t posted a fucking thing about his modlist, so he can’t be added till he deos. He posted the timeslip and a thread with his name on it, and then disappeared from forum life. So if anyone knows his modlist, and has him confirm that, I will add it. Until then I can’t.

I’m still torn on the DSG tune. I’m going to do the V3.0 next week after my fuel system recall is done, but I am going to hold off on the DSG tune for now. I’m going to do some passes and logging with just V3.0, and then I’ll make a final decision.

If I do it, I’ll go back and do passes and logging within the 30 day return window to make the final call if I am going to keep it long-term. Luckily, a guy I’m pretty close with just became an APR dealer, so it should make things easier (the current shop I use seem like good guys, but not super easy to deal with).

Some days my DSG acts great, and I don’t think I need it, and then the next day it short shifts and does all kinds of weird shit. I dunno…

The “have” part worries me. Are you saying that your tcu tune is still not 100% perfect yet? Can you elaborate please? A small update on where things are would be nice

I was planning on getting the tune this fall to help with drivability + the higher redline is something I want…
