APR is posting pics of the RS5 blower... Can anyone tell if it's a 1900?

So Arin posted some pics of the new blower… see below… sure is purty! lol can’t tell if it’s the 1900, 1650 or 1320? Pretty bummed though, as they got this done failry quick in comparison to us B8 S4 owners still waiting… I would think there is a much bigger market for the S4… Wonder if they can’t source the blower or there are other issues…

maybe the low volume is good for a roll out, they can charge more and keep up with demand until any issues are ironed out and then look to the s4 kit

or its a 1320 and is going to be as disappointing as their 2009 press release lol

the 1900 looks like its listed as about 411mm long including the short pulley assembly (303mm without), so just a hair under 1ft for the body and just over 1’4" with the snout.

Just their intake manifold shrouding our view.

I like the dual intakes on these cars.

Arin has talked about big power and has intimated it would outstrip the other kit. I’m confident it’s a 1900. (Seeing as how there is no 1650…right?)

beem, yeah good point on the volume and rollout… however, if you want to get payback for R&D volume is a much quicker way unless you charge a HUGE premium… So I think it is either the 1320 or will cost $20K…

I guess it just really bums me out that we didn’t see a stage III this year… I won’t say the S4 has hit a wall because times are still improving but we didn’t see much in the way of inovation this year at all… Hopefully, that will change over the winter or I am going to get bored… lol

$20k would be my guess based on the rs4 kits

Yeah to me that is robbery… At that price they should warranty the motor… I mean that is 25% of the price of the car… Makes Alex’s 2K steering wheels looks cheap! lol I guess if you are first to market or only ones to market you’ll get a decent amount of sales from the early adopters who must have it… It better not be a 1320 at 20K that’s for sure…

^^^funny, their RS4 kit was originally both…it was the 1320 AND $20k

I think it’s a TVSr1900 kit for $17,500

Anyone want to have a pool? Here’s a poll anyway

I think APR would have the good business sense and opt to standardize the blower amongst the varying production lines S5/RS5/RS4, B7RS4, B8S4/B8.5S4.

PT, I think the reason it hasn’t been released for the B8S4 is more of a fitment issue and sourcing/developing an appropriate solution…

And yes I think it will be the TVS1900 though part of me hopes it wont be as I’ve promised myself that my S4 was done with regard to performance modification. :frowning:

Well, if you have one guy willing to pay $17,500 for a TVS1900 kit, it doesn’t mean you’re capturing the market. lots of guys will pay the $12,500 or $13,000 for the TVSr1320 kit on an RS4/5…but may not want to step up to the bigger kit.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they offered both. Frankly a TVSr1320 4.2 FSI V8 will waste just about anything on the road. The TVS1900 is monstrous, but think about it…how many cars are actually running 11 second quarter mile times on pump gas. Almost none…and those that do so in stock form are $100,000.

^^Yeah maybe they’ll carry both it really depends on what the carrying costs are and/or what their pricing was based on.

If you think about it the B8S4/B8.5S5 market is probably where APR will see most of their kits sold. Since they already have the 1320 it’s inevitable that they go bigger (1600 or 1900). I don’t see APR putting in a large enough order for the 1600 to be produced so we are left with the 1900 and modifying the manifold (I’m guessing) to fit.

Sak, you’re right there isn’t much that will be able to hang with the S5 blown 1320 in stock form but I think it’s fair to say that blower is under sized for that engine and APR’s competitors will/are going bigger…

;D

LOL. MOAR INFO!

Is undersized for sure but it depends on your goal

Go much bigger and you start getting into extra layers of cost

I like the JHM philosophy personally where they are going to offer the massive blower with base kit on stock fueling and no cooling and it will be cheap…then they will also have another later where it will push past the capacity of the fueling system and will be cooled and will be far more powerful and a few more bucks.

That way when you want to go bigger, you’re able to upgrade for a few grand…rather than being underwater $7,000 on your TVSr1320 kit, ditching it, and buying a $17,500 TVS1900 kit.

I wonder if APR considered a centrifugal charger for these high reving V8s?? Seems like that would produce the most power when its all wound up at 8500rpm !!

Any guesses on power? Id say needs to be 650+ hp

the problem is nobody wants to find out where the motor goes boom. So 500 whp appears to be pretty safe…but that’s speculation and conjecture. We’re just trusting the TTS/MRC cars are

a) making legitimate power gains in the 500 whp / 600 crank hp range (like the MRC dyno tells us)
b) healthy, able to manage this.

I think the performance tells us a) is accurate. As for b) the quiet on that front also seems to say it’s keeping the cars healthy at its power levels.

Personally I think you’ll see something from APR that makes around 500 whp as well. You’ll see the same from AMD. The same from JHM.

How they all go about it will be very different. From the looks of it, the AMD and JHM kits will get there for about half the cost of the APR kit though, so that will be interesting.
