APR just hit the strip with their RS4 with the new blower..

nothing fishy about power and performance, whats fishy is that we have seen this before where a customer sent in a fake time slip to them and they instantly crowned him the champion. I can run 9s in our STI, take the time slip and claim my x car went this fast. I just like seeing videos with runs to validate them. usually they are good from a media standpoint and have a video along with the announcement. not second guessing APR’s validity, just dont want to get duped again.

well if thats the case…they need to come back from the future before they announce details. ill wait patiently then.

I see, and I know what you mean. KevKev etc.

Yeah, this was actually APR’s test RS4. They went to MMP yesterday with the RS4 (and who knows what else).

Arin was communicating with me earlier in the day, asking what the various records for 1/4 mile passes were for the RS4, and then after they made that glory pass, they posted the 10.60 on facebook before driving 2 hrs back to APR headquarters. They got there, unloaded, and went home.

Today they will share more information, I’m sure, on what they were able to do. Arin emailed me a couple of things last night, but I want to let him post.

ok gotcha, sounds good. cant wait to see JHM counter and have all the haters cry. if JHM ran that time with race gas and slicks all you would hear is them bitching that an audi is not a drag car. JHM needs to stop worrying what others say and give their car the same treatment and go for broke. full interior pump gas is nice but the sexy numbers sell kits.

Yeah, exactly.

I like that they threw the slicks and very race file on. Why the fuck not. But the key is that they did it AFTER running the car in street form, full interior, street tires, pump gas, which is far more relevant.

Since JHM went 11.12 @ 125 in full street, full interior…on 93…with stock fuelling…it will be interesting to see where APR stacks up.

If they ran slicks, that’s good for 0.15 - 0.20 of ET. That takes the 10.60 to a 10.80 @ 130 (MPH won’t be affected much by slicks…will drop slightly).

So stripped interior is good for maybe 100 lbs, or half a tenth at this level. That has them at 10.85 @ 129 (PtoW affected slightly).

Then race gas is good for 2-3 tenths/2-3MPH…which would put them on pump at around 11.1 @ 126…same as JHM. JHM ran 8 PSI and stock fuelling, so they have a little left on the table, to be sure.

Going to be interesting.

All around, great for the RS4, and great for Audi.

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking about today.

I think their pump ET may beat JHM’s by a hair with the roots and more low end tq, but trap will probably be right in that 125-127 range.

I’d like to know if JHM is waiting for a full built RS4 to turn the boost up, or if they will release some times with the upgraded fueling. I’ve got to imagine on 93 octane with additional pumps, JHM can get to a 10.9 @ 127-128 in full street trim (assuming additional fuel pumps lets them turn the boost up another ~2psi).

APR’s time is killer and awesome to dangle out there for bragging rights, but the gutted race slicks plays a large factor in it all.

It will be interesting to see the final release blower pressure compared to this glory pass and how the engine fairs if they tear into it. These APR numbers are truly impressive but I would be pretty shocked if they release a tune this aggressive. The JHM pass becomes all more impressive when you factor in only 8psi, full interior, pump fuel, stock fuel hardware and street tires.

Saki, you’ve been predicting this kind of power from the RS4 for a few years now. Nice to see it come to light.
It’ll be interesting what APR will ultimately charge too.

And to be honest, I was expecting a vid on QW with announcement. To see a future dated time slip made me laugh. Waiting patiently for the vid…

Frankly I don’t think they expected to leak this information out. The number was so fucking good they couldn’t help themselves.

They will make a video and have more information for the full retrail release of the product I’m sure. We’ll have to be patient.

There are 2 options in this situation

  1. go to the strip, run epic times, and then keep them quiet for a month (very hard to do)
  2. go to the strip, run epic times, and share a little info to tie us over

I would choose #2, personally. Imagine we found out they hit the strip…and they didn’t tell us any times? We’d storm the headquarters looking for results lol.

lol. More fuel for the conspiracy minded.

how’s that?

lol. More fuel for the conspiracy minded.

Bad editing on my part…

Agree completely with these sentiments. Also, if they were planning to bring their kit out at a decided price, I bet that price just went up. Give a big time teaser, an epic teaser basically for this platform, and get a whole bunch of rabid enthusiasts foaming at the mouth in anticipation, just waiting to bust into their wallets.

Details here. Sorry for the delay. I also haven’t read the other posts in here so sorry if I missed questions.

The software we ran is what we will have for production from a power / aggressiveness standpoint. The differences may be a little more top end power on production from what we ran and some more changes to non wide open throttle drivability. The remainder of the development process will focus on daily driving feedback in that area to ensure its comfortable during normal driving situations.

Wonder who tuned this car? Regardless, awesome times–makes me wish I could hop into an RS4!

Our new head calibrator, Eric@APR, is heading up this project. He started back in February and is very talented. Look him up. He goes by R/T Ernie and has a pretty extensive build thread for his Evo.

Do you think Eric can have another “quick” look at the B8 K04 tune? :).
