APR Presents the B8 S5 4.2L FSI V8 Stage 3+ TVS1740 Supercharger System

Available now. You can do the install on your own, but we would obviously prefer a dealer to do it.

I think they were similar, but probably less in the evening. Tack temps were dropping though and our 60 ft on the best 100 octane run wasn’t as good as 93. I believe our biggest problem was the clutch. Lots of slip down the track would ruin half the runs we did. It was a clutch masters (wasn’t our first choice) and it died on me a day or so later. We were there with something like 5-7 cars too so there were a lot of different cars running for different reasons. Basically, we didn’t stay the whole day focused on just the S5.

comparing it to the 1320hp numbers on the old kit…
old kit = 537 hp 11.9
new kit = 589hp 11.1
that’s what i was comparing it to; seems to be many more factors than just raw power which are enabling those crazy times!

crank numbers mean jack shit from Apr since they have hub dyno.

Arin puts crank numbers for markets where they care about crank but to get to them he just applies stock drivetrain loss % to the modified hub numbers. If the car was weak stock or had a problem that had it down on power…or just made less than audi claimed, it exacerbates the supposed drive train loss which is applied to the worked over modified car and makes it look crazy. He doesn’t have a choice, so im not knocking it, but he hasn’t actually measured crank hp. The two stock baselines may have been different and had different applied oercentage drivetrain losses. Another reaon not to put much stock in dyno numbers.

Compare the wheel (hub) number of each.

In fact fuck it…compare the 124-125 mph trap speed to the 115-116 of the 1320 kit. That’s 80-100 whp. That’s 100 crank comfortably. More likely its more.

Hopefully this gets them off the topic of cats (or is that the A5 forum?)

Really strong results from the humble S5. That’s a strong value proposition if you prefer 2 door to 4 door.

I went over there to see what the AZ thread reaction was like after a couple of days.

7 responses, 2 of which were from Apr employees (arin and flying tomatoes)

Wtf… The 5 guys are weird.

i know…im shocked…I was expecting 11.4-11.5

combine this with the current JHM products and you have a 10sec S5! ;D

compare wheel numbers.

need timeslips…for this

insane. Im surprised the drive shaft can handle that, impressed. How launches have been at that much torque with your test car?

Arin can you post the full modlist for this car so I can add it to the list?

APR Stage 3+ supercharger system.
APR Intake System.
APR RSC Catback Exhaust.
Clutch masters clutch (it failed).

Everything else was stock.

Such an awesome time. Wish the supercharger was a little cheaper but I don’t blame you for charging what you charge bc the Audi market demands it.

What do you have in mind for the clutch?

Really great stuff, good to see you hitting the strip. And thanks for bumping this up, always good to see the V8’s killing it

I would consider it if APR had a step up kit price from the 1320 or special discount for previous 1320 customers

I still love the power from the 1320, but I think i have become a bit desensitized to it…looking for more already ;D

Impressive results. Even more impressive are the results between the old and new kits.

Jump ship to a jhm kit? The price of the kit is less than any discount you would get for the 1740 anyways

Do we have any information on the jhm kits yet? I’ve been interested in seeing their offerings and price per performance improvement.

Based on previous form, I would bet a Coke Zero that a stg1 kit would cost about $8k and get you into the low 12’s and a stg2 kit would cost $12k and get you into the mid 11’s. There’s a thread in the S5 section somewhere.

You’d probably make a reasonable amount of money selling the 1320 kit.

^^
Solid advice. The JHM stage 1 kit on the S4 has posted equal or better times than the apr 1320 kit did with the RS4
