APR Presents the World Premiere of the Eaton TVS1740 Supercharger

maybe 250 lbs

R8 4.2 now has Dsg too doesn’t it?

You’re right. 2013 R8 has a DSG option. Fuck that is so awesome.

I’m really thinking of getting a couple-year old RS5 sometime down the road. Then immediately adding the 1740. I just can’t think of another car I would want for the money. And yes, if I had moar, I’d be in Prime’s situation looking for an R8 V10.

According to Audi’s shitty website the RS5 curb weight is 4,009 lbs and the R8 V10+'s curb weight is 3605 lbs.

So the new V8 R8 is probably 100-150 pounds lighter than the V10+.

That is a big difference to me.

not sure how accurate

Use car magazines where they actually weigh the cars rather than spec sheets for cars with who knows what options.

I would bet

Rs5 3950
R8 4.2 3700

Coke?

^^ I’ll bet a coke for sure. Weight differential between R8 and RS5 is greater than 250lbs.

I’ll take an over and under bet.

The RS5 is over 3950.
And
The V8 R8 is under 3700.

My dads RS4 at Englishtown with him in it was 4,029lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas. His S4 with a 1/4 tank of gas was 4,180lbs. I would have to say the RS5 has gotta be over 4k… The R8 i’ve seen some numbers as high as 3700lbs.

That is epic.

I wouldn’t mind a 6MT R8 V8 with an APR Blower on it as my next car

I always wonder how many of the people whining “why isn’t it here” will actually throw down the money when the time comes ::slight_smile:

lol great point. APR said they sell the grand majority of their big ticket items like supercharger kits to people who don’t even know what a forum is

Just mentioning the word “supercharger” starts a fight at home over financials and home projects that I don’t want to prioritize. I’ll have to find a way to do it secretly. What’s a forum?

There’s a huge world beyond the forums. Just follow JHM’s facebook page - lots of cars on there that I can’t link to the forums. Unless they are being ninja. Also, APR’s reach is worldwide. Am I right in thinking that 1740 development is going on in South Africa and Australia to develop tunes for hot and high?

But great point about how many of those guys in the AZ thread are going to throw their money down.

yeah, the 1320 kit was far ahead of us in Aus I believe. We were like…last.

Wasn’t the manufacturer of their 1320 kit based in Australia as well? Assuming they dropped them, which of the remaining aftermarket SC companies is making the 1740 and where are they located?

Yeah. We were all set for some good RS5 marketing material in Australia but the Motor Magazine Tuner Challenge got canceled/moved to another date.

Any updates? Like time frame release?

Announcing exciting new products on a car forum, without a release date is like waving a red flag at a bullfight. Somebody’s going to get gored.
