Just mentioning the word “supercharger” starts a fight at home over financials and home projects that I don’t want to prioritize. I’ll have to find a way to do it secretly. What’s a forum?
There’s a huge world beyond the forums. Just follow JHM’s facebook page - lots of cars on there that I can’t link to the forums. Unless they are being ninja. Also, APR’s reach is worldwide. Am I right in thinking that 1740 development is going on in South Africa and Australia to develop tunes for hot and high?
But great point about how many of those guys in the AZ thread are going to throw their money down.
Wasn’t the manufacturer of their 1320 kit based in Australia as well? Assuming they dropped them, which of the remaining aftermarket SC companies is making the 1740 and where are they located?

Yeah. We were all set for some good RS5 marketing material in Australia but the Motor Magazine Tuner Challenge got canceled/moved to another date.
Pretty funny. For the rs4 it’s troublesome because there are already a bunch of incredible options out there. Talking about something that is still six months away in the rs4 market won’t work. They will lose. Already have lost actually in people like kryptonik who went elsewhere. That’s why they didn’t say much about it till very recently, not long before release date.
However for the b8 there’s zero competition. So they can announce it six months ago and drag their heels and push the v8 stuff out first.
Ya the only other company I can imagine having the resources to go Stage III would be GIAC. But I haven’t seen any indication that they are going that route.
Who knows, though, EPL is already at Stage II (without a pulley, right?) - maybe they’ll continue breaking barriers on the B8 platform :
if they do go stage 3, it won’t be for a LONG time according to what Austin told me at WF. said they want to maximize everything the stock blower will allow for before they head that route. they claim there’s still a lot left on the table
its quite possible that’s what I mean but it was out of Austin’s mouth and not anyone from AWE that said it to me. he claims that more can be done for power without swapping the blower
So basically, sounds like APR will be the only game in town for a LONG time. Can’t imagine squeezing any marginal gains out of the 1320 would be comparable to the 1740. Doesn’t seem like a plausible competitive strategy to me (whether AWE v APR or AWE/GIAC v APR).
