Are there any alternatives to Audi's OEM ballasts?

I’m getting sick and tired of having to replace them every year. They’re not cheap.

Any no-name OEM alternatives for the B7 S4?

I’m not sure about alternative ballasts, but what is going on that requires you to replace them every year?

I live in Baghdad…uhh…I mean Toronto.

I feel your pain. Michigan roads are actually catigorized as the worst roads in the USA.

Check out the chrysler 300. I know chrysler uses the same ballasts as we do. I dont remember 100% what one it is but Ithink its the 300.

I knew about this but I don’t have all the details. Which MY 300? Same time period?

I actually have notes on this somewhere. Il llook and check back in. If you end up finding the information on your own please update this thread. There is a big saveings to be had

Verify this, but I have notes that the Valeo LAD5GL is our stock ballast and is also used by Chrysler in their 300C. I haven’t had to change one of mine (yet) but don’t doubt that I will someday as dipped/failed headlights seem to be a common complaint with our cars. Look for mopar parts (at a dealer or online). Their part number is: 5139061AA. Something else I was told was to NOT keep the headlights on auto. The reasoning being that the ballasts fail after so many off/on or thermal cycles, and if they’re firing your headlights up every time you start the car they won’t last as long. Hope this helps!

Very helpful. Thank you. Both tips.

Interesting note about the auto.

According to that reliable source of automotive wisdom, Amazon, that ballast is also used in a variety of Volvos.

“Valeo LAD5GL OEM Ballast Xenon HID Fits Volvo S80 S60 XC90 V70 XC70 Chysler 300 Charger Audi A4”

The Valeo ones I list in my earlier post are incorrect, and do not fit.
