ATS-V

Just got some actual release pics, full details should come out at the LA auto show.

[QUOTE]The mag says the ATS-V has a 3.6-liter V6 packing 450 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The car weighs in at 3,600 pounds.

[QUOTE]They say the ATS-V also has a beefed-up suspension to make it handle even better than the already superb ATS, and it comes standard with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. An optional track pack includes an aero package that helps produce 100 pounds of downforce at 150 mph.

I personally think this is a real kick ass car, but the question of price will decide whether it is a worthy competitor to the C63, RS5, M3. Just couldn’t spend RS5/M3 type money on this car, despite the marginally higher performance mark (claims that “It’ll kill the BMW M3”) and arguably more track ready setup (comes with ZCP like option).

Looks pretty sharp.

I like that they have offerred a 6spd.

The front and rear are REALLY BUSY. A whole lot going on. (Who says Pontiac is dead?)

agreed. I was thinking the exact same thing. front and rear are way overdone, and the rear quarter panels look so bare and large, it makes the rear tires seem tiny.

The ATS looks a lot better in person. In pictures, especially those, the rear end looks way too long past the end of the door.

Can you imagine what these will do with just tune/intake/exhaust/radials in the 1/4?

No AWD. How long before the first set of test drive fail videos?

Wreath FTL.

Remove the center bar and you have the new retarded Lexus grill

the rear window swoops down at the back and meets the body like a civic, id prefer to see it in a 4 door.

yeah, 4 door please. THe ATS-V and CTS-V 2 doors are hideous

Clarkson said it best

“It was designed by someone, who only had a ruler”

Also, no AWD = no care.

Finally, pricing wise, and size wise, this will compete with a B8 S4 or a 335is. I bet it’s $60,000 loaded. Powerwise it will be a nightmare for Audi and BMW on a value proposition lol.

The CTS-V is basically a performance/power/size competitor with the M5/RS7 etc…but a price competitor with the RS5/RS4/M3/4/C63

The problem with GM stuff is it gets so powerful for so cheap, the magazines struggle to protect their German advertising friends and end up mixing up comparos. They compared the CTS-V to the RS5/M3/C63…because it cost the same, but made an extra 150 hp, and was the size of the M5/RS6/E63.

When Road & Track compared the 2nd CTS-V to the E60 M5, it was pretty much a tossup as far as the car goes. Acceleration, handling, etc. The CTS-V was $20,000 cheaper though which made it an awkward comparo and Road & Track named the CTS-V the winner of teh comparo, price agnositcally.

Same as when you compare a Z06 with a 991 Carrera 2S. Same price, but the Corvette OBLITERATES the 911.

On paper it’s a nice car but I’m not crazy about the interior.

I sat in a new CTS-V at a dealership a few months ago and commented that the driver’s seat was rocking back and forth. The salesman said that was intentional “to help absorb acceleration forces”.

I believe I read somewhere that GM is attempting to up the pricepoint on all the Cadillacs, as if to justify the extra development cost they burned on the alpha platform, compared to something like Lincoln and Buick which are just redressed Fords/Chevys priced 10k more with air conditioned seats.

I’m not sure about the factual accuracy of this claim, but pretty sure the new CTS, especially in the “v-sport” trim (which comes with this 3.6TT engine), is something on the order of 10k more than a fully loaded previous gen CTS. So basically, they are hoping people will start paying the BMW/Merc/Audi premium for what they consider to be true competitors. Hence “It will kill the BMW M3”. I guess the question is whether they can start by backing that up with track performance…

Yeah, they’re all like that. It’s a weird feeling. I thought i"d broken a friend’s seat when I drove it 200 miles.

Wow, looks like they want M3 prices for this ??? ??? Doubt they sell many (if any) of these. Maybe plan is to set MSRP artificially high and then discount through incentives?

[quote]The ATS-Vsedan will start at $61,460, and the ATS-Vcoupe will start at $63,660. (You’d think you’d pay more for extra doors, but no.) Those prices are without tax, title, dealer fees, options or the TruCoat, which you’ll want.

Yeah, they raised the price on the CTSV dramatically as well. I think about $20,000

That makes room for the ATS-V and some margins
