Definite issues with tapatalk this morning.

Revision to my tune, you know the mind blowing passes I made in my 480hp/510tq dyno queen which translated into a 13.5 @ 111, lets hope it improves.

I was sending basic logs to him, he noticed several misfires and requested additional info which I provided. Then he fell off the map after multiple attempts to follow up. Three weeks later I expressed my distaste for his tunes and shitty 1/4 mile results. I suggested I would be happy to have a competitor tune it and post the results of each. He apologized and I now have a revision waiting for me at USP. They have also implemented launch control which will be added with the revision. I’ll take it to the track the next day and see how it goes.

Jupe, you dyno’d 480 WHP? Wow.

Bottom line is that EPL has for whatever reason not had success tuning for acceleration through the gears. They do great in one gear stuff though. Dyno, 60-130.

I don’t think the dynos are doctored up (not enough to explain anything anyway)
I don’t think the parts are crap.

I just think there are things some tuners don’t know about that others do.

Case in point…

APR TVSr1320 kit tuned by APR = 12.7 @ 109-110
same kit tuned by JHM = 12.0 @ 116
same kit tuned by JHM with JHM exahust = 11.8 @ 119
same kit tuned by APR after getting assistance from JHM = 11.8 @116

EPL tuned TVSr1900 Aviva SC kit = 11.9-12.1 @ 119-120
Same kit, tuned by UM 2 weeks later = 11.3 @ 126

The dyno doesn’t mean much to me. Frankly, if I dyno’d 300hp and ran a 13.5 then I probably wouldn’t take the steps I’m taking. I’ve always said the car runs really really well after 60mph.

USP’s dyno via remote tuning w/ EPL.

they love to talk ‘custom tune’ in the B5 world lol. Really anything EPL tunes they call it a custom tune. Lots of the the RS4 guys got sucked in by the EPL promise of great things with their ‘custom RS4 tune’.

Some of the dumb-as-a-rock guys (to coin a beemerism) argued that they needed a custom EPL tune because thye had a Milltek catback vs. a JHM tune which was only tuned for JHM exhaust (every part of that is absolutely wrong). It’s incredible these guys were somehow smart enough to earn the money to afford a $70,000 car in the first place.

I have seen 5 B7 RS4 guys get EPL tuned. I have seen NONE of them go to the dragstrip or do acceleration testing/pulls and share the information. They all bury the info if they do gather any, because the EPL tuned guys were all the loudest mouthed RS4 owners ironically, and for them to admit that they had been wrong would be disastrous for their fragile egos.

This is what I think blows my mind the most about the majority of RS4 owners. It’s either a successful person’s car… or a little rich punk, but I’d assume most of the people with higher incomes have at least half a brain. Posting on AZ and viewing QW makes me feel like my assumption is very wrong.

Haha, I’ve considered selling the S for an RS and force feeding it but I have a hard time letting the S go since I bought it new, maintained it well, and then the mods. Slapping on JHM’s kit isn’t such a bad idea!
