Audi piloted parking

A few observations:

  1. What happens if some car or truck is blocking the driveway? Does it just sit there waiting? Is there a timeout?
  2. Who pays for parking?
  3. What if the spot the car chose is a reserved spot that you’re not allowed to use?
  4. Why did they choose a woman to showcase the technology?
  5. How many corrections of the steering wheel did the car need??
  6. I’m guessing this would only work with automatics and DSG (then again, all Audis seem to be going in that direction)
  7. Maybe it’s a good thing and people will stop bumping my car when parallel parking downtown.
  8. Knight Industries was worlds ahead of this back in the 80s!

Good questions

re: automatics, all Audi sedans/hatchbacks are automatic everywhere on earth except America, as of next year I believe

Whaaat - where did you read that? Something like the 2.0TDI FWD A3 wouldn’t be available with a stick? There are so many stripped out “budget” base Audi models. Having said that I wouldn’t believe you if you told me there was no manual option for the 2013 S4 in Europe. Yet NA is the only market getting a 3 pedal S4.

I guess times are a-changin’.

^^^there is ALREADY no manual option for the B8 S4 in Europe. The facelift cars are DSG only. Only the US market has the manual option. Might explain why the manual transmission is not exactly…stout. It’s phasing out.

That’s what I meant by “yet NA is the only market getting the 3 pedal s4”.

Wasn’t that due to a massive push back from the dealers? They complained about no manual options and Audi had to offer one last minute.
