So i have a few questions. I searched AR and didnt find answers so here they go.
- can a rs6 motor fit in a a6 c5 4.2l (has it been done?)
- are the rs6 trans and the 2000 Audi A6 4.2l trans interchangeable?

1 yes…they are both A6 body cars…not that I kjow of…very expensive. You would need the wire harnuss different mounts and all the intake and intercooling hardware
2 yes and no. They are both 5hp transmissions. Gearing inside is different. If ur question is will a a6 transmission bolt upto a rs6 yes.
3 ask all you wsnt. I think telling us more of what you wsnt to do would be better
trying to turn a B5 S4 into a b5 Rs4 always leads to financial disaster, but it’s the only way to do it in America so that’s fine. Eat financial shit and do it.
trying to turn a B6/7 S4 into a B7 RS4 is a fucking financial catastrophe, and the 3-4 guys who tried it either ended in financial ruin, or ditched the car once they realised it felt empty or wasn’t really an RS4 and didn’t make them as happy as they’d hoped. Especially when you consider that for $15,000 price difference or so, you can just BUY AN RS4! Upgraded engine, wheels, brakes, suspension, widebody. Why the fuck would you swap anything?
Same with the C5 Rs6. There are tons of them out there, and they’re like $24,000 for a mint one. Why would you try to spend $50,000 to do a swap?

Or better yet buy a C5 RS6 with a broken trans for cheap then get the trans rebuilt by level10 or similar. Or maybe even JHM.

Then get the Count/JHM to tune it. It will be faster than most things on here for sure.
edit: don’t dick around trying to do a manual swap either. I reckon the RS6 trans is good enough for sane power levels (i.e. high 10’s)
well the reason im asking is because i can get a full rs6 engine, harness, turbos, edu, intercooler pipes intake…everything for dirt cheap and it runs. at least i think 2,800 for a motor is cheap

Figgure 3k with pick up. It will take 2k in time amd efforts to make it work. How many miles on the rs6 motor…you might also need another 1k in just timing belt water pump pullies gaskets the list goes on. Performance wise have you done anything to the A6 yet…
The person to ask is SteveKen. The same guy who sells the 6speed adapter kit. He is deep in a project to swap all the RS6 stuff to an S6. I think at first he thought it would be fairly straight forward, and then it was not. From my understanding, there is a LOT of work to do. I don’t think $2k would come anywhere remotely close to paying the labor to make this work properly.
Sakimano is right, just buy an RS6. It will be cheaper in the long run, and be worth something at the end of the day (while an RS6 swap car really wont be worth much, compared to what is invested)
You could just vandalize your car and make insurance pay for a RS6 conversion. It’s worked well for at least one guy…
